The funeral service for Idwal Arthur "Deke" Jones, 74, formerly of Poultney, Vt., who died Monday at the Veterans Administration Hospital in White River Junction, Vt. after a long illness, will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at Roberts- Aubin Funeral Home in Poultney. The Rev. Fergus Cochran, pastor of the Welsh Presbyterian Church of Poultney, will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date in Poultney Cemetery. He was born Oct.4, 1919, in Poultney, Vt. ,son of Richard and Marjorie (Rowland) Jones. He was graduate of Poultney High School. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran of World War 11. Mr. Jones was a lineman for the Tatko Brothers Slate Quarries. He was a member of the Welsh Presbyterian Church of Poultney and a member of the J. Claire Carmody Post 39 American Legion of Poultney. Survivors include his wife, Viola (Woodard) Jones ; two sons, Harold Wetherby of Colebrook, N. H., and Glenn Wetherby of Corinth, N.Y. ; two daughters, Martha Felion of Leicester, Vt. and Alice Corwell of Swanton, Vt. ; a brother, Richard Jones of White River Junction, Vt., a sister, Caroline Reed of Whitehall, N. Y. ; several grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a daughter, Viola Bourn , and a sister.
