I know for example that in Argyle you can get a (modern) copy of the 1866 Argyle map in the Town Clerk's office. So, it wouldn't surprise me that other towns might have new copies as well. Those maps are definitely great and a real help with genealogy (especially when you have the 1860 and 1870 census records. - Mike Huggins, Irvine, CA -----Original Message----- From: Michael McAlonie [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Saturday, August 28, 2004 8:01 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [NYWASHIN] lot numbers Thanks David, that was very helpful. Much appreciated! I recently bought on ebay reproductions of 1866 town maps for Jackson and Greenwich that list where certain surnames lived. The Greenwich map also had some lot #s and outlines, both very interesting. I emailed the guy asking if they had a similar map for Cambridge and what the publication source was and he did not reply. Does anyone know if a similar map for Cambridge exists, with surnames, and where I could find it? thanks, Mike ----- Original Message ----- From: David J. The date of publication is 1895 but the information presented is from an earlier period. It shows lot numbers crossing town lines. There is a column of lots running from Jackson across the town line and through Cambridge. Lot 56 is 90% is Jackson with only the south west corner in Cambridge and lot 57 is about 50-50. The north east half is in Jackson and south west in Cambridge. Both lots are approximately 2 to 3 miles north west from the town center - i.e. towards Greenwich. I will forward a fragment of the map to your own email (the list will not accept attachments). The entire map is too large to be emailed. > -----Original Message----- > From: Michael McAlonie [mailto:[email protected]] > Sent: Saturday, August 28, 2004 13:59 > To: [email protected] > Subject: [NYWASHIN] lot numbers > > > would anyone know approximately where Cambridge lots 56 and > 57 would be today that were mentioned in an old deed? > > Thanks, Mike > > > ============================== > Gain access to over two billion names including the new Immigration > Collection with an Ancestry.com free trial.
