    2. Source, Granville, N. Y. Sentinel--Fri. Jan.23, 1914. SOUTH GRANVILLE, N.Y. The death of Fred Town occurred early Thursday morning , January 15, at his home in South Granville. He had been in failing health for the past two years, but not until a few months had his condition been considered serious. He was born in Middle Granville, N.Y. and was the son of the late Alanson Town. His age was fifty- one years. He was a life-long resident of the town. Being of a genial nature, he will be greatly missed in his home circle, where he was ever a kind and indulgent husband and father. he is survived by his wife, formerly Ella LaGosh, one daughter, Mrs. George Cuthbert , and one granddaughter, Dorothy Cuthbert. Also one sister, Mrs. Herbert Gates of Schuylerville, and three brothers, U. G. and Will of Poultney, Vt. and Wesley of this town. The funeral was held from the house Saturday at 1 o'clock. The large attendance of friends and relatives attested to the high esteem in which the deceased was held. The services were conducted by the pastor of the Congregational church, Rev. M. G. Cole. Mrs. Jennie Nichols of Granville sweetly rendered "Asleep in Jesus " and the "Homeland". The deceased was a member of the Woodman, members of which acted as bearers. Out of town relatives attending the funeral were Mrs.Herbert Gates and Jerome LaGosh of Schenectady ; Mr. and Mrs. U. G. Town, Mr. and Mrs. Will Town of Poultney, Vt. Friends were also present from Argyle, Hebron, Hartford, North Granville, Poultney, Vt., Rutland, Vt., Wells, Vt. and Pawlet, Vt. There were many floral tributes including ; pillow, Mrs. Ella Town and Mr. and Mrs. George Cuthbert ; wreath., Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Town; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Gates; wreath, Modern Woodmen of America; casket bouquet narcissus, Miss Laura Duel ;carnations, Ladies Aid Society; Congregational church ; carnations, Mr. and Mrs. Fred LaGosh, Jerome LaGosh; carnations, Mr. and Mrs. O. F. Nichols ; carnations, Mr. and Mrs. John Bromley; sickles, , Unigo Camping club.
