Source, Rutland,Vt. Daily Herald--Mon.Aug.1, 1938. POULTNEY,Vt. July 31--Emyrs C. Ellis died suddenly at his home on Norton avenue this morning at 9 o'clock, from an attack of angina. He was born in Poultney in 1880 and was the son of John R. and Elizabeth Ellis. His life has been spent in Poultney where he attended school and has been engaged in business. For the past 30 year he conducted a barber shop in the Humphrey block. Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. John Sumner of Granville, N.Y., granddaughter, Joan Sumner, his stepmother, Mrs. Mary Ellis, two nieces, Mrs. Elizabeth McGill, Schenectady, N.Y., Mrs. Gerald Helme, Poultney, and Clayton Ellis, Poultney. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at his late home on Norton avenue. ps It didn't state how Clayton Ellis was related.
