I have placed all my cemetery photos of the Dennis Cemetery located in Easton, Washington Co., NY on Find A Grave. The link is below: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&GSln=dennis&GSfn=thomas+&GSmid=47125678&GRid=40154032&CRid=2316693& There is only four headstones at the cemetery, the land had been the farm site of Thomas Dennis and his wife Hannah Wilcox Dennis. The four headstones located there are: Thomas Dennis 1734 - 1813 his wife, Hannah Wilcox Dennis 1735 - 1824 Thomas and Hannah's son William Dennis 1757 - 1805 and William's wife Elizabeth Sherman Dennis 1759 - 1816 There are several rocks in the area that possible could be headstones, but I have not found a cemetery list of any sort so I am not sure there is anymore burials there then the four listed above. thank you! Archives has wills, naturalizations, tax maps, and records of that source along with genealogies. The historian's office has surname files, bible records, manuscripts, town and county histories, special collections and books, cemetery records for all 17 towns and villages, over 60 years of correspondance from researchers and materials of that sort. Both offices are excellent sources for genealogy and history and most researchers use both of them. Check out the Washington County official website and it will give you an idea of what is available. www.co.washington.ny.us Loretta ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joann H. You have pictures and info on the Dennis family? I would love to see them. Would you please send them to me. I have Dennis Families in Washington CO and in Cambridge. I also have Baldwin family in Cambridge and other places in Washington Co. Most amazing (thought not so when you dig in genealogy) My Baldwin's and Dennis' did not connect until my grandmother married my grandfather in Nebraska in the 1900's. Now researching these two families, they have crossed paths many times in the past 100 years before the marriage in Nebraska. Isn't genealogy fun? What Dennis family are you researching? I have some information on the Dennis family from Easton, Washington Co, NY. I also have pictures of their homestead and the cemetery. The pictures are on a computer with Windows 98 so I am trying to back it up and load on my new computer. But I have them and I know who I got them from so I could have her resend them to me. If you are researching this family. Parts of the family moved to other parts of Washington Co and other co's in NY. One son went to Rennsalear (splg?) Co. Could you please check if you have burial records for Frank Abbott, d Jan03, 1873 in Cambridge, Washington, NY.? One response received a few years ago said his records showed he was buried in "Dennis" cemetery in South Cambridge.? Do you have listings for other names in this cemetery?? Would appreciate any information you have.? Thank you, ????????????????????????? Joann, No problem, Yes, the materials are quite different. Hi, Obadiah Daniels is not listed in the Jacson book on deaths listed in Washington County newspapers. If you do a Google search for old NYS newspapers on micro film, I am sure you find a list and where the films are held. Hello, JC3, Your surname caught my eye. In my files there is a Frances Crippen, (1838 - 1907). I believe she was the d/o Micajah and Delilah (Murray) Crippen. I lost a Hosea Crippen "by accident" in 1801 as the Granville slate business was maturing. Hosea's wife Comfort Hatch Crippen was a founding member of the present Baptist church in Truthville. Hosea and Comfort had a farm north of Truthville on present day Hatch Hill Road. I have reviewed the Truthville cemetery on several ocassions. A few early graves were located on the church side of the road and may have been lost in the move to the present cemetery. Since Hosea's death was termed an accident, there may be a newspaper report somewhere. Any early Granville newspaper that covered the Truthville section would be welcome news to my family history file. Susan Willig: My Hosea Crippen lived in and around Granville and farmed north of Truthville following the Rev War. In addition to Hosea, his brother Joseph Crippen was there for a time, younger brother Nathan Rowley Crippen lived there through three wives. Alpheus Crippen, another brother, and his wife were the third Crippen family who were founders of the Truthville Church and we believe Asa Crippen (yes another brother) may have been there also. In answer to your question " . . . any connection to yours?" the answer is "most likely". Thanks for asking.
