Hi, I am looking for Mary Hudson born 1847 married to ______Edwards, about 1865 ... She was living as Mary Edwards without a spouse, in her parents (HUDSON) home in 1870 in Easton, Washington Co, NY. I would like to know if there were any children born of that marriage and what happened to her husband. She remarried to LeRoy Severance about late 1876 early 1877. Would appreciate any information. Sharon
I know for example that in Argyle you can get a (modern) copy of the 1866 Argyle map in the Town Clerk's office. So, it wouldn't surprise me that other towns might have new copies as well. Those maps are definitely great and a real help with genealogy (especially when you have the 1860 and 1870 census records. - Mike Huggins, Irvine, CA -----Original Message----- From: Michael McAlonie [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Saturday, August 28, 2004 8:01 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [NYWASHIN] lot numbers Thanks David, that was very helpful. Hi; Does anyone know what the name of the Cemetery on Stockfarm Rd in the town of Chester, Warren County NY is? There are only 5 grave stones in it, and they are all of the Dillingham Family. Thank You Tom
Dear folks, I have an original copy of the "New Topographical Atlas of Washington County New York" from 1866 (printed in Philadelphia by Stone & Stewart) - it contains detailed maps of all the towns and villages with surnames and property lines, lot numbers, etc. It's about 15" square, which makes for awkward photocopying, but I'd be happy to try to make copies for anyone who's interested in a particular town or village. Surnames are not indexed, so I can't do specific lookups, but the maps are quite detailed. Sara in Argyle > Thanks David, that was very helpful. Leslie -- I know that Jay VAUGHN is the son of Darwin C. VAUGHN and Jane Marie DUERS. Darwin VAUGHN is the son of John VAUGHN (1799-1845) and Hannah MARTIN (1805-1902), but I have not followed this line further because my relatives are the DUERS side of the family. I do know that the name VAUGHN is also spelled VAUGHAN and would not be surprised if it was spelled VAHAN as well in some records. I also know that the VAUGHN family is one of the early families in Washington County area. --Bart > > Hi Bart, > > I have a couple of dumb questions. Bob, I bid up to $15 and was outbid. I dropped as I did not want to possibly bid against another member of the board. Thanks for alerting us to the auction, however. Leslie -- Thank you so much for the information on the tax records for Henry Sherman. He was born 28 Sep 1730 to Jabez Sherman and Jedidah Hawes in Dartmouth, Mass. His wife's name is Ruth Akin born 28 Dec 1731 also in Dartmouth to James Akin and Amie Fish. I would really like the reference source for the information if it is not too much trouble for you. Also, I have been struggling to find any information on my 5ggfather, David Duers or Dewers, whose wife, Deborah Sherman was the daughter of Henry. David and Deborah were married in 1770 in Dartmouth. At least one of their children was born in NY (John Duers abt 1779), three other sons were probably born in Dartmouth before the family moved to NY (William, abt 1774, David, 1776 and Benjamin, 1778). The junior David Dewers is my 4ggfather and he moved from NY to Pennsylvania (Susquehanna County) in about 1825. If you find any information on any Duers or Dewers in the tax files it would be very helpful and useful for me. Thanks again. --Bart
