My G-G-Grandfather, Leroy Dodge, and his wife, Almira Slocum Hastings, moved to Sandy Hill, now Hudson Falls, in Washington County, at some time before 1895, as that is the year his wife died and was buried in Union Cemetery, Ft. Edward. They moved from Wisconsin, where his father and family had moved in 1838, and where he was last recorded in 1880, in Walworth County, WI. He was born in 1837, in Pembroke, Genesee County, NY. He was a corporal in the Civil War, serving in the 8th Minnesota Volunteer Regiment, which saw service in the Sioux Wars of 1862, before heading south to join with Sherman’s army. He died in 1924 and is buried in Union Cemetery. He is listed in the 1900 census as working in paper manufacturing, and in 1910 as a lock tender on the canal. Any information on him or his wife, Almira, will be greatly appreciated, as I live in the southwest, and do not have ease of access to NY information. Will Dodge
