Sunday, while two young men were driving a horse and buggy owned by Robert Hamilton, when coming down the hill near Samuel Wright's, a front wheel give out, throwing out the occupants. The horse ran away and demolished the wagon.

Before returning to Salem, Miss Noonan will go to Newburgh and Washingtonviile, where she will remain some time with friends. John H. Curtis of Vancouver, B. C., has been a guest of Mr. and Mrs.Edward Moynihan. Mr. Curtis came from his northern home to attend the Gettysburg reunion and is now on his return journey to Vancouver. He is a veteran of the Indian, Civil and Spanish-American wars.

The Main street river bridge is nearing completion and teams will be able to pass over it in a few days. The Congregational church picnic will be held Saturday at the Forest house grounds, Lake St. Catherine. Several from Granville and vicinity patronized the Shushan Methodist church excursion to Boston Wednesday. Miss Caroline Potter has improved the appearance of her West Main street residence by the erection of a porch. The business office of the Granville Telephone company is now located in the corner room on the ground floor of the building. Mrs. Mary Perry of North street sustained serious injuries last week by a fall from her house porch. Her condition is improved. Mrs. G. E. Duel is substitute on Route No. 1 and F. W. Carlton on Route No. 2, during the vacation of the two regular carriers. Evan J. Ellis, who has been slating in Worcester, Mass., since last fall came home this week, having met with an accident which fractured three of his ribs. At the recent centennial celebration of Shushan, among the old time teachers present was Mrs. Betsey White of Glens Falls, formerly of Granville. Mrs. White taught, a correspondent states , for one dollar per week . Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Hicks delightfully entertained the Social Eight club at a piazza party Saturday afternoon. The State Bar association has sent out letters to the attorneys in this district asking them to sen in their ideas as to the best man for chief justice of the court of appeals who together with an associate justice, will be elected next fall. A pullet belonging to Benjamin Dudding comes to the front this week with a single yoke egg weighing a full quarter of a pound and measuring seven and one-half by six and three-fourths inches. In " Trysorfa y Plant " for August, a Calvinistic Methodist periodical published in Wales, there appears a cut of Elizabeth and Ann Hughes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh H. Hughes of this village, together with an article complimentary of their talent and ability as singers and reciters. These girls are aged thirteen and eleven, respectively, and have won several prizes the past few years for singing and reciting ,and they have appeared before the public on several occasions and are familiarly known in this village.
