    1. 1914--Part #3 Court Cases.
    2. Source,Granville, N.Y. Sentinel--Fri. Jan. 23, 1914. HUDSON FALLS, N.Y. PART # 3 COURT CASES. A sensation was sprung when District Attorney Rogers announced indictments charging a statutory offense had been returned against Miss Susan Norton and Marshall McCoy, both of Hartford (NY). Attorneys Thomas A. Sherman and John Van Valkenburgh are Miss Norton's attorneys. Attorney Sherman was granted ten days in which to answer to the indictment. The motion made to inspect the minutes of the grand jury was denied. Mrs. McCoy sometime ago lodged a complaint against the Norton girl, charging her with being an immoral person. She was arraigned before justice of the peace, W. Ward Norton of Hartford and ordered committed to the Home of the Good Shepard in Albany. Habeas corpus proceeding were instituted and the case was taken before Judge Paris, who discharged the girl for lack of evidence. A few weeks ago the matter was brought to the attention of the district attorney who presented the evidence to the grand jury. Miss Norton was allowed her liberty by furnishing bail in the sum of $200. McCoy did not appear in court Friday. It is believed he will plead not guilty . McCoy is a former justice of peace in Hartford. The case promises to prove the sensation of February term of county court.
