    2. Patti Hobbs
    3. Hello, I sent an email to this list soon after joining and haven't seen it go through, so I'll try again. Since then I have been in contact with one very helpful person in the Historical Society. We will be going on vacation and stopping in Washington County on our way to Fort Ticonderoga. I am descended from John Rogers and Mehibitable Tefft Rogers through their son James Rogers and Amy Bronson and through their son Solomon Rogers and Aner Curtis. I have a question though....for those of you familiar with the area. I will have my laptop with me, and I have something I need to take care of on Wednesday--a responsiblity for which I need internet access and I have to be able to do it through my laptop since I have the program I use for this responsiblity is on my laptop. Since we'll be staying in a campground (any suggestions welcomed, but Fort Ann Campground is the one I'm planning now) I need to find someplace, like a public library, that will allow my laptop to connect to the internet. Is there such capability somewhere in the area? Our public library in my area of Springfield, MO has wireless internet access within the building. Right now we have high speed internet through a microwave tower and so I don't even have an access number to dial for modem, although I think I will investigate that possiblity. Thanks for any help. Smalley were called to Granville, New York, last Friday to attend the funeral of their niece, Mrs. John Vinton, who died at her home in Granville, NY, on the first of the week. The funeral was attended by Rev. Mr. Sharp of Rochester, who spoke from the following words, found in Jer. 15-9. "And her Sun went down while it was yet day." The music was by a mixed quartette which sung three choice selections in a most impressive manner. A beautiful display of choice flowers were received from sympathizing friends from Boston, MA Montpelier, VT and Rochester, VT. Mrs. Vinton was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Shepherd, who have lived in this place for several years until this fall when they purchased and moved to a place in Middlesex, VT. Mr. and Mrs. Vinton were married here June 14, 1899. Mrs. Vinton and her sister Miss Flora Shepherd, were successful teachers in this and adjoining towns, for several years. And had none but friends. 1. Ora M WINN - Whitehall
    2. Charles S. Latham Sr.
    3. According to the Whitehall Chronicle Weekly Newspaper: "Marriages of Nov 15 1886, John L Latham, Ora N Winn." 1900 Census records: Jun 15, 1900 Census, Whitehall. <Ora M Winn age 53, Widowed.> John L Latham, born 22 Jun 1856 in Dresden, died in Whitehall on 24 Mar 1929. His wife, according to his death certificate, was Minnie (or Millie) Abar. Is there any evidence that Ora remarried and was widowed before the 1900 Census? Is there a marriage record on file for John and Minnie? I would like to hear from someone researching WINN or ABAR who can help me clarify this confusing data. Thank You, Chuck Latham

    3. I guess I should clarify............William LaValley was born c. 1856 in Canada........moved to Fort Edward sometime after 1910. He and his family are found in the 1920 census for Fort Edward. Yes, all his family are buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fort Edward, but HE is missing. He is not in the 1925 Census for Fort Edward. The bus driver that Anne spoke of, may have been a descendant. William also had a first born of some 16 children that was named William. William Jr. who was married to Harriet Wood is said to have drowned in the canal as well as Wm. Jr's son, Theodore. Is anyone working on this family line or know of this family? Thanks again. Brenda
