    1. F & I War, Champlain Valley, NY
    2. This is a first posting to this NY Military List. I am interested in any Colonial War ( F & I War) information especially any, concerning the exploits of one Brig Gen Timothy RUGGLES, b 1711, Mass., highest ranking American born Colonial officer. Engagements RUGGLES participated in: Crown Point and the First Battle of Lake George. He was second in command to Sir Wm Johnson. Promoted from Col. to Gen of the Brigade for his demonstrated battlefield abilities. Abercrombies defeat at Ft Carillion. Some mention of a rear guard action he led that allowed the safe retreat of many Brit troops. Possibly without orders or against orders. Amhursts capture of Ft Carillion, renamed Ft Ticonderoga. Montreal and Quebec. additl: noted Loyalist, escaped with only a few family members and what he could carry to NS when the Brit troops evacuated Boston. I am also attempting to link those Rev War veterans who have markers in the Bolton Cemetary with genealogical searches in the Mass area, the assumption being that the families originated in that area (have to start somewhere.) Anyone with info they would like to have included please contact me. I will be combining all that I can for Bolton's anniv.this summer and sending it to the towns historical committee as part of my contribution. Bill Perkins === Wmdperkins@aol.com
