Hi Ya'll from Houston Texas; I started to do genealogy about six years ago for I didn't even know my Great grandfathers middle name or even my Great grandmothers name! A sad situation considering my sister and I were becoming the oldest generation living! I dived into it with a fever that has never gone away. For I have found cousins on the good ole internet. A second cousin in my COYER line. Who shared the Coyers of Glens Falls, Warren Co., New York all the way back to Quebec to Canada. Amazing! A researcher who helped me find my Charles William DEAN and my WAKELEY'S in Washington Co. YEAH YOU ROSE LOL. And with my trip to Glens Falls almost two years ago, the town vital records, census records, obits in papers, and caretakers in Cemeteries. All these people went beyound their job respnsibilities to help. With the death of my Mother's brother I got pictures of the DEAN, WAKELEY, STARBUCK and HOLLENBECK LONGDO/LONGDAUE line. Then through my great grandmothers MCWHIRTER line I met a cousin! Of my LAVOY line. In going through her attic she found some family pictures. She didn't say completely who they were. Before Christmas she sent me a couple gifts with the orders " DON'T OPEN TILL CHRISTMAS!" When I did open them with my sister I got the thrill of a life time. For inside were more pictures of relatives and yes a picture of my great grandfather CHARLES AUGUSTUS LAVOY! I was speechless to say the least. Now I know where I get my frown from and my sister knows where I she gets her nose. The ending of this genealogy story is---don't give up finding your family it'll lead you to a more complete understanding of your family and new relatives you didn't know you had. Count your secesses not your brick walls, eventually they will come down. And like me you'll have your great grandfathers picture to smile at the rest of your life.
