    1. need phone #'s for churches in Bolton Landing
    2. Dora Smith
    3. Can someone please give me the phone numbers for the churches in Bolton Landing? I can't find them in Yahoo or anyplace. I remember the phone number for the Episcopal church - but I need the numbers for the Catholic, Methodist and Baptist churches. I need the numbers at which I would actually reach the clergy - which may mean I need their names and home phone numbers. Bolton is a very small town- only the Episcopal minister lives on the church grounds or is often around the church! Yours, Dora __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? 1. would like current obit from Glens Falls newspaper
    2. Dora Smith
    3. Could someone please look up the death notice or obituary, and, if there is one, the funeral notice, for Rev. Russell D. Smith, of Diamond Point. It would be in the Post Star - if that is what the newspaper in Glens Falls is still called! He died at his home last Tuesday or Wednesday, March 6 or March 7, from cancer. He was Episcopal minister in Bolton Landing from about 1958 until about 1978. If it is short, could you please e-mail it to me - or snail it, I'll provide my address and offer to reimburse you. I am most immediately interested in anything about the funeral. I'm also real curious exactly what it says if there isn't going to be a funeral. 1. Colonel MUNSELL acreage
    2. Cordah Elizabeth Robinson
    3. Listies, Does anyone have any further info about this Colonel MUNSEL who was granted thousands of acres of land in western VT, eastern NY, and, evidently, OH? A full name perhaps? Any info will be most appreciated. I have two references as shown below: Ref 1. From: Debbie Whitman, State Contact - debbiew@sover.net VTGenExchange http://www.genexchange.org/state.cfm?state=vt The only MUNSELL mentioned in the Wells book is a Col. Munsell on p. viii in the history of Wells. He is mentioned on a 1767 survey map registered in Albany, NY which shows a grant of 5,000 acres in the county of Albany on the west side of a lake called St. Catherine's to a Col. Munsell. The 5,000 acres included most of the present Wells, west of the lake; parts of Poultney, VT and Granville, NY. The claim was invalidated through the efforts of the Green Mountain Boys. ****************************************************** Ref 2. Miami Co OH A part of Mr. Duer's farm possesses great historic interest. It was formerly owned by Colonel Munsel and county annals tell of the notable gathering of men, around the old spring, on this farm, to discuss the acquisition of the Northwest Territory, the final decision of which brought about such momentous results. The old spring still bubbles up its clear, sweet, cold water, never, in all these years, having failed. 1. FITZSIM[M]ONS
    2. Greetings, I am researching the above family name. George FITZSIM[M]ONS was born in Co. Cavan, Ireland in about 1828, and lived in Warren Co., NY by 1860. His wife was Rosanna or Elizabeth McMULLAN, and they had children Henry (b.1849), Charles (b.1852), Edward (b.1854), George (b.1856), Nellie (b.1860), and Maggie (b.1862). In the 1880 U.S. census they lived in Warrensburgh, but I have no further info on them after that time. George was not my ancestor, but his brother Thomas and their father Thomas, both of whom lived in Minerva, Essex Co., were my great- and great-great grandfathers. I would like to trace the George FITZSIM[M]ONS family to help in the research of my own line. Please contact me if you have any knowledge of this family. I'm willing to share the information I have on the family. Sincerely, Lynn Fitzsimmons Tuohy

    3. Anyone ever hear of a McMillen Pelletreau Woodward Cemetery? I have a hand drawn map with reference to this cemetery. It is drawn as north of Athol and Warrensburg near a river and a ferry service. Does not appear far from the "Dartmouth Patent". Although I can't judge for scale. I am looking for somewhere that Hugh and Christina McMillen might have been buried around 1800-1820. Janice Wiegley

    1. [NYWARREN] What Genealogy Gives
    2. Hi Ya'll from Houston Texas; I started to do genealogy about six years ago for I didn't even know my Great grandfathers middle name or even my Great grandmothers name! A sad situation considering my sister and I were becoming the oldest generation living! I dived into it with a fever that has never gone away. For I have found cousins on the good ole internet. A second cousin in my COYER line. Who shared the Coyers of Glens Falls, Warren Co., New York all the way back to Quebec to Canada. Amazing! A researcher who helped me find my Charles William DEAN and my WAKELEY'S in Washington Co. YEAH YOU ROSE LOL. And with my trip to Glens Falls almost two years ago, the town vital records, census records, obits in papers, and caretakers in Cemeteries. All these people went beyound their job respnsibilities to help. With the death of my Mother's brother I got pictures of the DEAN, WAKELEY, STARBUCK and HOLLENBECK LONGDO/LONGDAUE line. Then through my great grandmothers MCWHIRTER line I met a cousin! Of my LAVOY line. In going through her attic she found some family pictures. She didn't say completely who they were. Before Christmas she sent me a couple gifts with the orders " DON'T OPEN TILL CHRISTMAS!" When I did open them with my sister I got the thrill of a life time. For inside were more pictures of relatives and yes a picture of my great grandfather CHARLES AUGUSTUS LAVOY! I was speechless to say the least. Now I know where I get my frown from and my sister knows where I she gets her nose. The ending of this genealogy story is---don't give up finding your family it'll lead you to a more complete understanding of your family and new relatives you didn't know you had. Count your secesses not your brick walls, eventually they will come down. And like me you'll have your great grandfathers picture to smile at the rest of your life. 1. [NYWARREN] More POORHOUSE Information
    2. Poor House Lady
    3. A reader named Kathy Campbell recently wrote me: ---------------------- I got interested in reading about the Poorhouses in Warren and Essex Counties after reading an article in the December 2000 issue of Adirondack Life magazine called, "Hard Times Come Again No More." It mentions several of the poorhouses in and around Warren and Essex County. There are pictures of ones in ESSEX County, WARREN County, and FRANKLIN County in the article. Thanks. kathy -------------------------- I have not gotten ahold of the magazine yet (I live in Texas.)...but I have subscribed. And I went to their website and found a portion of the article on-line at http://www.adirondacklife.com/editorial/nov3.htm Please go look! There is a great anecdote about a colorful "local character" (complete with old photo of him in his old Arirondack woodsman dress) who sadly wound up in the Warren County Poorhouse. I hope to get permission to put that article on The POORHOUSE STORY website at http://www.poorhousestory.com Thanks to Kathy for telling me about the article. And I hope others will do as she did and let me know about interesting poorhouse finds! Happy New Year! Linda Crannell (aka=The Poorhouse Lady)

    1. [NYWARREN] Elusive Place
    2. Hi Ya'all; My Aunt at two years of age suffered a severe head injury in 1918. By the time she was abt. 12-14 her condition was so bad her Mother had to place her in an insane asylum. So my Mother convayed to me years ago, it was the only hospital that would take her. Her death was about 1930 She isn't in the family plot. Do to their income it's understandable. All this took part in Warren County. My questions are. What hospital could she have been in? Mt. McGregor? And could she have been buried on hospital grounds? The one picture I have of her shows low laying hill but I believe it was taken just before she "went away" at the family farm. Deanna LaVoy-Lewis
