My third great grandfather, Martin Washman Kelly b. 1821 d. 1847 Quebec, Canada is my brick wall. His parents were Joseph Kelly & Sophia Decker and were found in Stanbridge, Missisquoi, Quebec, Canada. They were both born approx. 1793. I don't know for sure, but I am guessing that Martin's middle name, Washman, might have come from his mother's side of the family. Sophia Decker's parents were Abraham Decker and Christine Vandousen. What is your source that Sophia Decker's parents were Abraham Decker and Christina Van Deusen? The Decker Genealogy by Benton Weaver Decker 1980, Pg. 164 shows 6 children b. 1790 to 1803 for this Abraham and Christina but none named Sophia and none b. in Canada. Christine's death record indicates her year of birth to have been abt. 1771, so I would guess Abraham would have been born before or abt. 1770. The above source shows no dob for Christina Van Deusen but Abraham Decker was bp. 1768 in the Linthego RC, Livingston, Columbia Co., NY. At this point in time all I know is Abraham and Christine Decker had at least one son, John, born about 1790 in New York, but I did not have a clue as to where in New York to look. Yes, son John was bp. 1790 in the West Copake RC, Columbia Co., NY as were 3 of their other children and one was bp. in St. John's Lutheran Ch., Manorton, Columbia Co., NY. Most of their children were born in Canada. It has been suggested I try for the Ulster Co. Decker line. If there were children b. in Canada, the Decker book doesn't show them. The only child of Abraham and Christina that the book follows in Joh b. 1790. In 1809 he mrd. Christian Wells, NFI on either. Shown children for Abraham and Christina: John; 1790 Barent; 1792 Christina; 1795 Feitjen; 1797 Lawrence; 1801 Tobitea; 1803. Aside, this Abraham Decker had a sister also named Christina who was bp. 1766 in the Linthego RC. THIS Christina Decker mrd. Robert Van Deusen. I am wondering if brother and sister mrd. brother and sister, Robert being the brother of Christina Decker? Would you or anyone else know this Van Deusen family? I am hoping that someone on this list might have some information on Abraham & Christine. Hopefully, information on this Decker/Vandousen line might lead me to someone in the family from the Washman line. Looking in the Decker book index I see a "Hanna Washman" who mrd. Lourenz Decker bp.1775 in the Gallatin RC, Gallatinville, Columbia Co., NY. Nothing more on them other than they had a dau named Sally bp. 1798 in the West Copake RC. This Lourenz Decker was the son of Isaac Decker and Rebecca Spoor. I would suggest looking for your Washman family in Columbia Co., NY. Good luck, Cynthia Middaugh-Zuber Sandy Williams **************It's Tax Time! Get tips, forms, and advice on AOL Money & Finance. (http://money.aol.com/tax?NCID=aolprf00030000000001)
