Both were born in Ulster County (He was born in New Paltz. She was born in New Paltz or Esopus.) Children ( per 1830 census in Esopus): 1 male, born 1825-1830 (Abram/Abraham Polhamus born Aug. 5, 1823 in Esopus) 1 male, born 1820-1825 2 males, born 1815-1820 1 female, born 1810-1815 (Sarah E. Polhamus, born 1814 in Esopus & died Jan 14, 1901 in Esopus (never married)) Have spent years trying to determine Elizabeth's parentage. At least five Relyea families in New Paltz/Esopus produced a daughter named Elizabeth: 1.Simon Relyea, Magdelena Deyo - baptized in New Paltz 2 Nov 1786 ?Married John Saxton -07 NOV 1802 2.Dennis Relyea, Annatje Anna Van Vliet - b 21 June 1789 d 19 July 1789 3.Dennis Relyea, Annatje Anna Van Vliet - b 21 Jan 1793 d 26 Feb 1852 4.Simon Relyea, Maria Divine - 20 Jan 1796 - New Paltz 5.Henry Relyea, Elizabeth Weismiller - baptized 23 June 1796 Klyne Esop. Does anyone have info on any of these? I'm interested in confirming marriages & dates of death, in an effort to eliminate any who died before 1814, or married others. I suspect that my Elizabeth was daughter of Hendrick Relyea & Elizabeth Weismiller, baptized at Klyne Esopus in 1796, since the 1820 census entry for David Polhemus is only separated by one household from the listing for Hendrick. Later generations of Hendrick's family transferred land to & from Elizabeth's son. Thank you for any help! Edie Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
