Pacific Standard Time, CMiddaughZuber@aol.com writes: What is your source that Sophia Decker's parents were Abraham Decker and Christina Van Deusen? The Decker Genealogy by Benton Weaver Decker 1980, Pg. 164 shows 6 children b. 1790 to 1803 for this Abraham and Christina but none named Sophia and none b. in Canada. Sophia's marriage record lists her as daughter of Abraham Decker. LDS film 1430757 Church of England, St. Armand West. I have only comments Sandy and I don't know at all if they will be helpful. For starters, there were a ton of Abraham Deckers in that time period. And, the marriage record you mention above only shows the name of her father. Since her supposed mother Christina lived until 1658, why isn't her name in the record also? When/where/who did this Sophia marry? Where is Church of England, St. Armand West.... Quebec, Canada? On this particular thread, one has to be very careful of info from LDS films unless the film shows a primary source for the info. Abraham's death record Philipsburg Angelican Church Records LDS No. 1430757 A farmer of St. Armand, QC, Wit. John and Lawrence Decker (his sons) That would work for the Anthony we are talking about. So when did he die, you didn't include the date above? I'm wondering if the dau Christina b. 1795 as shown in the Decker book is the same person as Sophia? St. Armand: Methodist Circuit Records: LDS No. 1430765 Vandousen, Christine D. Sept 17, 1858, Bu: Sept. 18, 1858 ae. 87 yrs. relict of Abram Decker of Stanbridge. Wit: Caleb Corey. This may be a different Abraham because I was told by a Schoolcraft researcher his son John married Susanna Schoolcraft, the daughter of Adam Schoolcraft & Christine Phelps. John Decker, the son of Abraham and Christina was b. 1790. In 1809 he mrd. Christian Wells of Goshen as per the Decker book. I do not know anyone doing Van Deusen research, as I have just started to look "side ways" as they say to other branches. My only interest in VanDeusen is because of the Washman name which is my brick wall. I belong to World Vital Records.com. I did a search for Washman and up popped VanDeursen Family, Vol. 1 a Quintin Publication. There I saw Anatje Washman and Laurance Decker as sponsors to Laurance VanDeusen's baptism on 25 June 1797. Laurance VanDeusen was the son of Robert T. VanDeusen & Christina Decker. Children's baptisms took place at Clav. and Copake. The Decker book shows Tabitha Van Deusen as the wife of Lourens Decker who was b. 1762. This Lourens was the brother of Abraham who married Christina Van Deusen. It also shows a Hanna Washman as the wife of Lourenz Decker b. 1775, the son of Isaac Decker and Rebecca Spoor. The surnames of Decker and Spoor are also found in Quebec, Canada and connected to my family lines. Somehow the Washman surname is too. Washman, I am finding is not very common so I am of the belief that the Washmans: Hanna & Anatje could very well be a connection to my ggg-grandfather, Martin Washman Kelley/Kelly. I'm guessing that Hanna and Anatje Washman are one and the same person. Cynthia Sandy Williams **************It's Tax Time! Get tips, forms, and advice on AOL Money & Finance.
