At any rate, I have posted the listing below. Hi Bill, Your post should be helpful to a lot of people. Thank you! The too little I know about "The Forgotten War" relates mostly to naval battles, to the burning of the White House, to New Orleans, and to Dartmoor prison. :) I rather doubt that there was any action in Ulster Co, (?) so wondered if the Militia was sent elsewhere. Here are some more members of the Battalion, from a post to Hommel-L: ABRAHAM HOMMEL BEVIER'S BATTALION, NEW YORK MILITIA. ANDREW HOMMEL BEVIER'S BATTALION, NEW YORK MILITIA. ISAAC HOMMEL BEVIER'S BATTALION, NEW YORK MILITIA. JACOB HOMMEL BEVIER'S BATTALION, NEW YORK MILITIA. JOHN A. HOMMEL BEVIER'S BATTALION, NEW YORK MILITIA MATHEW HOMMEL BEVIER'S BATTALION, NEW YORK MILITIA PETER H. HOMMEL BEVIER'S BATTALION, NEW YORK MILITIA. SOLOMON HOMMEL BEVIER'S BATTALION, NEW YORK MILITIA I also have >partial listings of the 83rd (Gurnee's) Regiment, Hardenburgh's >Regiment, and Benedict's Regiment if any one is interested. I'd be interested in seeing them, as I'm sure others would! Most of the surnames on the list you sent were familiar, & the families tied by marriage to my lines. Btw, there is/was a searchable database for War of 1812 records at: http://sierrahome.com/familytree/records Thanks again, Peggy Peggy Dolan (Hommel-L listowner) outtolaunch@juno.com ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
