    3. Catherine, 1) Anyone with possible Dutch ancestry in Ulster County should check out www.geocities.com/heartland/ranch/2697 2) The little info you have on his witnessing a will can be important in your search. The will and probate proceedings give you the addresses of the witnesses. It's not always on the will, but is part of the sworn statement of the witness at probate to "prove" the will. In your case, you need to visit the Somerset County Surrogate Court building. 3) I'll check the indexes at Ulster County for James the next time I go in. 4) Have you done a search on DAR websites? Many of the DAR books are online at www.ancestry.com Good luck in your search, Ginny Byron -----Original Message----- From: DVerkijk@aol.com <DVerkijk@aol.com> To: vbyron@ulster.net <vbyron@ulster.net> Date: Friday, January 29, 1999 7:27 PM Subject: Vanfleet/Van Fleet/ van Vliet line >Hi, Virginia >I read your message on the NYULSTER-L Rootsweb and was wondering whether it >would be a lot of trouble to look for James Vanfleet, born appr. 1790 (no >deathdate) father Daniel Vanfleet of the Kingston area, who was a >revolutionary soldier. >I found James in Cayuga County, NY on the census in 1820 and 1830 but have not >been able to find him before. >Somebody doing research on the Vanfleet line told me that in a DAR book he saw >these names.
