DUNAGAN (Dunnigan/Dunegan/Dunnagan/Donnegan): Michael Dunagan, born in Ireland in about 1804, first shows up in the records in Hunter, Greene County in the 1830 census. By 1850 he and his family were living in the Town of Olive, Ulster County and he died there prior to the 1855 census. Some of the family spread around Ulster County, others moved north to Amsterdam, NY area, aothers west to Bradford, Pa (south of Olean, NY). I have the following family information: Michael b. 1804 Ire farmer Ellen b. 1806 NY Mary Ann 1829 John Henry 1831 m. Charlotte Andrew 1833 m. Olive Hornbeck Michael 1834 m. 1 Jane Hook, m. 2 Catherine McKinney Ellen E. 1837 Lucy C. 1840 William A. 1843 m. Abbie Martha J. 1845 Julia T. 1849 There may be 1 older daughter b. before Mary Ann; youngest dau Julia T. may have gone by the name of Theresa. Sons John and Michael each served in the Civil War, each joining the 120th New York State Vols. Both received serious injuries or illnesses which caused extensive health problems and disabilities the rest of their lives. John was in Co. G, Capt. Walter Scott. Michael served in Co. E - organized in Ellenville by Capt. Daniel Gillet. Info on John: John Henry Dunagan 1830/31 - 1895, died at old soldiers home in Togris Maine. Wife Charlotte 1833 - aft 1880 Children: David b. 1855, Albert 1857, Charles 1861, James 1867, Lucy 1869. When John was able to work he was a stone cutter. Info on Michael: Michael Dunagan b. 1834 died 1900 in Bradford, Pa.; Married 1: Jane L. Hook who died in 1871 in what were called the Drowned Lands, Ulster Heights (near Ellenville). Two children: Morris b. June 12, 1859; Mary A. b. July 4, 1866. Married 2: Catherine L. McKinney in Bradford, Pa. Info on Andrew: Andrew was b. abt 1833 and died in Rifton 1898 m. Olive Hornbeck in 1865, dau of Jacob Hornbeck and Sophia Tompkins Children: Sylvia 1866, Frank 1869, George 1871, Thomas 1873, William 1879, Minnie 1881, Eugene 1884, Leonard 1885, Chester 1886. Info on William A.: William was born in 1842/3 and shows up in the Bradford, Pa, census of 1880 and 1900. married Abby and they had 5 children, although only the names of three are known: Claud 1875, Birthie 1879, William E. 1888.
