-- [ From: Richard Frisbie * EMC.Ver #2.5.02 ] -- -------- REPLY, Original message follows -------- Have written asking for a list of names of persons buried in their cemetery around and beneath the church and have rec'd a ltr frm them saying it is against their policy to release such a list. Anyone know of what I can do next??? Marge. <snip> I'll call them - Richard -------- REPLY, End of original message -------- Listmembers The church returned my call today with an explanation and an offer. It seems that when the church's Houtaling cemetery was sold, the bones were reinterred at the Old Dutch Church. That list is in the Poucher & Terwilliger's Old Gravestones of Ulster County and is available for sale (from my shop among others). The book of the original burials actually in the Old Dutch Church Cemetery was compiled with (the help of a lawyer and) the specific requirement that it NOT be published at all (ever - period). That's why Marge's request for a copy of the book elicited the above response. However, Donna Light, curator of the Church Museum, offered to make a copy of the names only from that book which I can post on the Ulster Genweb page. http://www.hopefarm.com/geneatop.htm Then anyone seeking further information on a specific name can send a stamped self-addressed envelope to her at the church for a free copy of the page(s) that name appears on. Ms Light promised the list within a month. Meanwhile, if you have a genealogical emergency, send her the SASE and the surname for a page - if one exists.
