I am seeking information about Merritt DAVIS. This gentleman died in 1849 in Pawling, Dutchess Co., NY. His entire estate was willed to his brother, Jonathan, of Pawling. The witnesses to his will were Selah (?) T. Jordan of Shawaugunk, Ulster Co. and Philip Airs of New Paltz, Ulster Co.. Because of this I suspect that Merritt Davis was originally from Ulster County, NY. Does anyone have information relating to this gentleman and his family? I believe that Merritt was the father of my great grandmother, Laura Davis Washburn (1817 - 1859). Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Bob Peck
