Joan Gerrits Duncan MacQUARRIE, alias BROWN, with his wife Effie McILLEPHEDER (McNeill) and four children -- Donald (Daniel), John, Gilbert and Archibald -- sailed, as part of the Argyle Patent, from Islay, Scotland to New York in June of 1739.
