I have recently discovered that the Maule/Moule Family of Kingston, Ulster Co, and eventually Mongomery, Orange, NY were part of the Palatine Families of immigrants to New York (from Germany) in August of 1710. The Maules married into the following Ulster Co families: Van Keuren, Dekker/Decker, Constable, Menges, Huey, Maklin/MacLean, Weller, and Kampfort/Comfort. Christoph Maule & his wife Anna Juliana Zarius/Sargusch, originally located in the Kingston area and removed to Montgomery, while his cousins located in the Red Hook, Catskill and Rhinebeck area. The following is from: "The Palatine Families of New York: A Study of the German Immigrants Who Arrived in Colonial New York in 1710" by Henry Z. Jones, Jr., Universal City, California. 1985. The Maule family originated in Driedorf, Germany. Paulus Maule (progenitor) and Anna Engen had 2 known sons...Johannes Maule and Johann Martin Maule. Johann Martin died in 1697, but his son Johann Friderich & wife Anna Ursula Friess made the journey to New York and were naturalized in Kingston 8 and 9 Sep 1715, and eventually settled in the Red Hook area. Johannes Maule was first married to Anna Juliana Theiss 9 Feb 1687. Anna Juliana was buried 21 Apr 1693, and Johannes married 2nd Elsbeth Drisch 28 Nov 1693. Johannes and Elsbeth from Hohenroth, Driedorf, petitioned to emigrate in 1709, and traveled to the New World with the Philip Sargusch family, arriving NYC in Aug of 1710. Christoph Maule, son of Johannes & Anna Juliana, the immigrant ancestor of the Kingston/Montgomery branch of the family, was baptized "as a child" 15 Jan 1688 in Driedorf, Germany. He married Anna Juliana Sargusch, dau of Phillip & Maria Elizabeth (Andreas) Sargusch, probably on the voyage to the New World. The rest of the Sargusch family returned to Holland on the ship 'John'. Christoffel Maule was naturalized 8 & 9 Sep 1715 in Kingston, along with his cousin Johann Friderich. 1. Chistoffill Moull was in the company of Capt. Wittaker in the regiment of Jacob Rutsen in Ulster Co. in 1715 (Report of the State Historian, Vol. I, p 557). 2. Christoph Maul with wife and ch. was at Heessberg ca. 1716/17 (Simmendinger Register) 3. Chirstoffel Moul was taxed £3 in 1718/19 and £5 in 1720/21 in Kingston (Ulster Co tax lists) 4. The Kingston Court Records show a reference to him in Book I, Part C, pp 29 & 30. 5. Stuffel Moll was in the Company of the Wall-a-kill in the Ulster Co. Militia in 1738 (Report of the State Historian, Vol. I, p 608) 6. He and Anna Juliana were alive as late as 1751 when they sp. at Montgomery Ref. Church.
