Hi to all fellow Maul/Moule/Maule descendants: Bob Decker, a descendant of Dewertjen Maul & Andreas Decker, was kind enough to point out to me that the surname is officially, and consistently spelled Maul in "The Palatine Families of New York" by Henry Z. Jones, Jr. So, I must apologize if I have confused any fellow researchers on this point. My ancestress, Leah, used the "Maule" spelling in the Miller Family Bible which chronicles her marriage to Tjerck Van Keuren. Variant spellings of the surname I have found in baptismal records, include but I'm sure are not limited to, the following: Maul/Maule/Moul/Moule/Muyl/Mouwel/Mouw/Maulin/Maunlin/Mool/Mouwlin/Mol. For those of you interested in the bigger picture, there are 2 Maule web sites on line which focus on other "Maule" families. The United Kingdom URL lists Paulus Maul under "known families"...he's #23. http://www.bamaule.freeserve.co.uk/ http://www.cilp.org/~maule/maulehpg.htm Pam Sears
