WEEKS murder, was discharged by Judge MOORE, in the Court of Sessions yesterday. MILLER has been in jail for over two yers, and had never been tried either for murder or for burglary, for which he was also indicted. Lack of evidence was the cause of his never being brought befor= e a jury. Oscar PEARSALL, a lineman, who lived at 427 South Fifth Street, in the eastern District, committed suicide yesterday by shooting himself in the temple with a revolver. PEARSALL had acted strangely recently and is believed to have been insane when he ended his life. He was thirty-eight years old. The safe in the office of the Fifth avenue station of the Atlantic Avenue Railroad was robbed of a small amount of money early yesterday morning. T= he police are looking for an assistant watchman who is thought to know somthing about it. The tugboat William M. Ball, owned by William WOLF, while lying at the fo= ot of Degraw Street yesterday, sprang a leak and sunk. there was no one on board at the time. The national flag will be displayed on all the precinct police station houses during the day until further notice. Westchester County Coroner MATTHEWS began the inquest yesterday on the death of John MORRISSEY, who was shot in the head on Saturday night by August RANSCHT, = a saloon keeper at White Plains. The taking of testimony began about 3 o'clock and half a dozen witnesses were examined. The testimony simply retold the story of the shooting, as has already been published. RANSCHT is still at liberty, nothing having been heard from him since he disappeared after the shooting. The taxpayers of New Rochelle, at a special election held on Tuesday, vot= ed an appropriation of $2000 for equipping the Fire Department and incidenta= l expenses, and $3000 for grading sidewalks. The proposition to raise $10,0= 00 for repairing and improving the streets of the village was defeated. The Board of Trustees of Sing Sing have changed the name of Mott Street t= o Maple Place. Long Island Thomas MACKEY and T.C. LYMAN, the retired millionaires of West Babylon, have gone to law over a narrow road running between their property and forming a dividing line. Recently Mr. LYMAN erected a new barn, intending to use the road for his horses. Mr. MACKAY planted 100 locust posts in th= e road, so that only one wagon could pass, without having room to turn arou= nd. Justice KAVANAGH of Long Island City yesterday fined Joseph NEMENT $30 an= d Emil SCHMIDT $10. They are the two Bowery Bay fisherman who assaulted the driver and conductor of a Steinway horse car Sunday. The funeral of Alexander MOTT, aged fifteen, of Inwood, who died from the effects of incessant cigarette smoking, took place yesterday afternoon. New Jersey A boss mason named ROES, living in Central Avenue, Jersey City Heights, stumbled over the low wall that guards the West Hoboken bluff at Griffith Street last evening, and falling ninety feet into the quarries that lay a= t the foot of the perpendicular wall, was instantly killed. he heavy rains have done much damage to the lower stored and dwellings in the low land. LOUIS The Brooklyns beat the Browns today in a stubbornly contested game.
