You mentioned Poucher below. Is he your ancestor? According to my grandfather's paper, he may be son of Dr. Wilson Poucher of Poughkeepsie, NY. In reality, he is Bouché. It is not known when the letter from "B" was changed to "P". In his letter to a Boucher genealogist (no relation) in 1903, Dr. Poucher said he was grandson of Antoine, who was an ancestor of Jacob Bouché, son of Pierre (brother of Jacques), son of Simon Bouché of Claverack, NY. Simon emigrated to New Amsterdam from France through Holland in 1658. Antoine's great-grandson, S. E. Boucher, who lived in Bismarck, North Dakota, wrote to the same Boucher genealogist (no relation) in the same year, 1903, that he had a cousin named N. F. Boucher.
