I certainly appreciate the warning on Gustave Anjou. I've used his "Ulster County NY Probate Records, Vol. 2" as a reference, and now see that I should try to find original records. One interesting thing - that book had copies of signatures from the documents referred to, including one for Christian Sensabaugh, who was the person I was interested in. It is a rather distinctive signature. In other, primary, sources in Upper Canada, where Christian later moved, the nearly identical signature can be found. So, at least in this one instance, it appears that Gustave may have used real data. Does anyone else independently verified specific records in his Ulster County books?
