Hi Bill, Deer Park is in the area of Rt. 209 North of Port Jervis NY,if my memory is correct. I didn't see it on my NY map but it exists. Mamakating is the correct spelling of the other town. It's the Town of Mamakating which isn't on my map (don't know if it's on any). If you find the town of Wurtsboro I believe you've found Mamakating. The Town Hall there has records and Jean Dougherty the Registrar of Vital Statistics is very helpful. My husbands family is from that area so we've been going up that way for many years. But everything gets so familiar that we don't pay attention to where places are because we're so used to them.
