Children of Mr. & Mrs. STICKLE are: 2. i. JANE2 STICKLE, d. Cuddersbackville NY. (her husband b. 1845) 3. ii. EMILY STICKLE. iii. ANNE STICKLE. Notes for ANNE STICKLE: Never married, she ran a boarding house for men in Newark, NJ. Died at age 60 after a fall down stairs, breaking her hip. iv. LIT STICKLE. Notes for LIT STICKLE: Married an Englishman and had a son. 4. v. KATE STICKLE. Generation No. 2 2. JANE2 STICKLE (STICKLE1) died in Cuddersbackville NY. She married JOHN WORDEN, son of JOHN OR GEORGE WORDEN. Notes for JOHN WORDEN: In 1861, at the age of 16, John took a wealthy man's place in the Union Army for the sum of $300, and fought in the Civil War. He sailed to New Orleans and from there, fought under Generals Butler and Sherman. After the war, he was in demolition and dynamited for construction as well as for the railroad. He met his wife, schoolteacher Jane Stickle, when he was dynamiting to obtain flagstone for the streets of NYC at her family's stone quarry. After Jane died, he was a cook, and also lived with someone on a farm in Greensville NY , above Port Jarvis. Children of JANE STICKLE and JOHN WORDEN are: 5. i. ANNA3 WORDEN. ii. HARRIET WORDEN, m. Notes for ABNER DOWNER: Abner had 8 tugboats. Lived in Rutherford NJ. Genealogy has been traced vy Abner, who spent $5,000 doing so. JOHN HENRY3 WORDEN (JANE2 STICKLE, STICKLE1) was born February 26, 1879 in Roscoe NY, and died October 18, 1942 in Bayonne NJ. He married ELECTA A. SAVAGE, daughter of JOHN SAVAGE and EMILY LANSBURY.
