    3. The census indexes which are on Ancestry now, are a great blessing. I was able to do a search on my surname ELTING/ELTINGE and came up with over 350 records just in State of New York alone. Not only that, but there were Eltings in about 15 other states, so now I have a lot of work ahead of me. I know the page number, city/township and year. One thing I have noticed, is that you have to go back to it often, because it is continually being updated. James W.
