I am seeking the parents/ancestors/family of Merritt DAVIS believed to have been a resident of Ulster County prior to 1840. Merritt died in 1849 in Pawling, Dutchess County, NY. The beneficiary of his will was his brother Jonathan of Pawling. The witnesses to his will were Philip Airs of New Paltz and Silas (?) T. Jordan of Shawangunk, both in Ulster County.Was Merritt Davis a resident of Ulster County and does anyone have information relating to his family? I believe he may be the father of my gggrandmother, Laura Davis Washburn (b.1817). Any assistance would be appreciated. Regards, Bob Peck
