I have read the entries on this list with great interest for some time. I am relatively new to the search for my RELYEA ancestors, therefore have a lot to learn. I should say a lot more to learn, since I have already learned a great deal fro the list postings. One thing I learned about is the LDS site and the surname searches that can be done on it. This has also created a question that I hope can be answered by members of the list. In most cases the birth, christening and marriage records give a location or city as well as a date, such as Guilderland Center. My question is, are these the place names that exist now, or are they places from the date of the record that may or may not still exist? It they are current locations, is there a way to cross reference to the name they would have had at the date of the record? Any help and guidance would be greatly appreciated.
