The Delaware County Web Page has a couple of links to newspaper listings from the New York State newspapers project. http://www.rootsweb.com/~nydelawa in case some of you don't have the site. These are all ones on microfilm. I do not know of any listing for ones not on film. I did a quick perusal and nothing for Shandaken. Shandaken is quite small, so you might need to consider newspapers around the area. Pine Hill has something but it didn't start til the 1880s. Consider some areas in Delaware County such as Margaretville (Town of Middletown) for newspapers.
