Does anyone know if there are any tax lists available for the time period between 1760 to the beginning of the Revolutionary War for Ulster and/or Dutchess Counties? And if so, could someone possibly do a look-up for me? I just returned from a trip to New England and Westchester County, NY, where I was able to find numerous records of my ancestors from the 1600s up until the early 1760s, but I have absolutely nothing from then until they arrived in SW Virginia in the early 1770s. It appears that several of my family lines lived in the Ulster County/Dutchess County area prior to leaving for Virginia. The families that I am interested in are the BISHOPs (originally from Connecticut and later Westchester County NY), the COLEs (from Plymouth and Swansea, Massachussetts), and the HOPKINS (from Rhode Island). I believe that my COLE and HOPKINS ancestors moved to Ulster and/or Dutchess Counties before 1765. It is possible that the BISHOPs also lived there for a brief period of time, as I "lost" them in Westchester County after the baptism of my 4th great grandfather in 1764. These three lines reportedly traveled together from New York to SW Virginia. I am trying to figure out just how they "connected" in order to make that trip together. It would help if I could find records of them during this "lost" period of time! Thanks! Best regards, Janet Zengel Messer Micanopy, Florida
