As far as the connection between those Lybolt's in Mamakating (Ulster then later Sullivan County) and those in Montgomery (Orange COunty) NY, they are indeed of the same family origin. Many Lybolt's born in Montgomery, NY later moved to Mamakating and then later moved back to the Montgomery / Wallkill area. I don't have access to my files at this moment, I am on a laptop and not my desktop, to send you more concrete evidence. I have not been able to find the links between all of these lybolt's yet naming patterns seems to indicate that there may be connections. Another set of Lybolt's began in the Montgomery area and moved north, the county name escapes me at this moment. It is the belief of many Lybolt researchers that all of the New York Lybolt's (with their various spellings) are related to the same tree. It is also thought that in some instances at least, Seybolt may be a mis-transcription since the ha! ndwriting styles of that era made the capital L to look like the modern day capital S. This is also true of the double s which has been confused with the modern day f. Sarah Winfield who married Daniel Lybolt was married at least once before, again not being at my files I cannot recall right now what her previous married name was. Flemming, however, does not ring a bell. fred Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
