I don't have a James Shafer in my information. I'm sorry. All of my Dederick Shafer's children were born in Orange County, NY and moved with Dederick and his wife Sarah to Chemung County. My line starting with Dederick goes, Dederick & Sarah Shafer, their son was John S. Shafer who married Charity Coe of Veteran, NY, their son John Shafer married Ida Chapman of Veteran, NY, their son Charles Shafer married Frances Beardsley of Horseheads, NY, and their daughter Maude Shafer married Linford Turner of Veteran. Maude and Linford are my grandparents. They passed away in 1978 and 1981. I have tons of information on my Shafer's after they moved to Chemung County. But before that I really only have other people's information to go on. I'm sorry I can't help you.
