His death was caused by injuries sustained by falling down stone steps. Mr. Christiana had been for many years a member of the Methodist Church. He was one of the early Methodists in Marbletown. Before the church in this village was built in 1857, he attended the meetings which were held by Rev. Ananias ACKERLY in the residence of Mrs. James A. WOOD, just across the street from the present Methodist Church in this village, and which finally led to the building of the church. Mr. Christiana by occupation had been a miller, employed in the grist-mill of the late Judge Abney HARDENBERGH. He was highly respected, and at the time of his death, was somewhat over seventy-nine years of age. His wife died in March, 1876. The funeral of Mr. Christiana was held in the Reformed Church on Saturday afternoon at one o’clock, Rev. Wm. W. SCHOMP officiating. His remains were buried in the Fairview Cemetery at Pine Bush.” With warm regards, Marilyn Hough Stern KrippleBush, NY mhoughstern@aol.com ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour
