Good evening I am seeking information on Elijah Conklin and his wife Mary (Buys) Conklin, my third great-grandparents. This couple lived in Shawangunk, Ulster County from 1810 to after 1860 with the exception of the 1850 and 1855 census when the family lived in Wawarsing. They returned to Shawangunk for the 1860 census and disappear after this census. (died?) Unfortunately the 1865, NY state census is missing for Shawangunk and Wawarsing. Elijah was born about 1772 and Mary (Polly) Buys, 20 Oct 1779. The couple married 14 August 1798 in Westchester. The 1855 census lists the county of birth for both people as Westchester Co. Mary has very strong ties to the Dutch Reformed Church. Elijah does NOT appear to be Dutch name, at least as far as the DRC records are concerned. Can anyone help?
