    1. Davis, Dewitt in Wawarsing Road Districts of 1807
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Davis, Dewitt Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5RB.2ACE/1398 Message Board Post: Does anyone know if it is possible The "History of Ulster County, New York" has descriptions of the eleven Road Districts of Wawarsing, written just after Wawarsing was formed from Rochester in 1807. The descriptions are fairly cryptic, the 8th district is described as, "Beginning on the second district, near the house of Jacob Heermance, and extending till just across Mr. Douglass' bridge". Does anyone know if there is a map of these districts, or how to figure out where the boundaries are? I have a Beers map of Wawarsing of 1875, but it shows over 30 Districts, and I believe these are school districts. My reason for asking is that I'm trying to figure out where James Clinton Dewitt lived in the early 1800's, he and his brother were listed in Road District 2; as well as the Davises, all of whom are listed in district #8. Thanks for any help.
