Martin VAN DEMARK, Kripple Bush Methodist Church Records, Book 2, Page 105, pasted copy of Obituary, Death date: October 1, 1893 (calculated birth date: 4/23/1822) : “Kripple Bush: Martin VAN DEMARK, a highly respected resident of Marbletown, died at Stone Ridge on Sunday, October 1rst, aged 71 years, 5 months and 8 days. He was a son of William VAN DEMARK and Elizabeth CONNER and was the last of several children. His father, according to the Methodist church of this village, was baptized December 17th, 1775 and died November 3rd, 1855; and his mother was baptized September 2rth, 1780 and died January 16th, 1856. The VAN DEMARK and CONNER families have been quite prominent in the affairs of the church and town for generations. The late Martin VAN DEMARK was highly respected by his many acquaintances, and had long been in the service of God. His funeral was held in the Methodist church in this village on Tuesday afternoon at one o’clock, Rev. Josiah TETLEY officiating, and Miss Lila Tetley presiding at the organ. The services were very impressive. Darius AYERS, Wm TOWNSEND, Lewis HINE, Dewitt C. WINCHELL, James S. GRAHAM and Thomas P. OSTRANDER were the pall bearers.
