Chris, I think you might have helped me with my biggest mystery. I come from the Morris line of Abram or possibly Abraham born in 1808. I only have his mother listed as Sarah (no last name). He married Maria Van Vorhees. I know this is not what you are asking for but would you happen to know if this is the Sarah you mentioned who is married to James? Could this be Abraham's father? In 1798, the southeastern towns of Orange County were taken from it and set up as Rockland County, and the southern towns of Ulster County (the three you listed, plus Newburgh, and part of Mamakating that became Deerpark) were annexed to Orange County.
New to list. I see that Wallkill, Montgomery, New Windsor, et al. can be listed in Ulster County as well as Orange County. I'm surprised that both were orignal counties, but it looks like boundaries between the two could have shifted a time or two. Here is my story: I'm particularly interested in proving the parentages of a Joseph Conklin and his wife Jennett Monell. I found them (without Jennett's last name) at the Brick Presbyterian Church in NYC between 1811 and 1814. Then I found them earlier with Jennett's last name in 1804 at First Presbyterian in NYC, from which Brick had split off in 1809. Jennett, I believe, is the daughter of Lt. James Monell and Sarah Janet Graham, since Jennett had a daughter, Adeline Conklin, baptized the same day at First Presbyterian as her probable sister, Elizabeth Monell Morris (wife of Robert Morris, and known daughter of James and Sarah) had their own daughter, Sarah Ann Morris, baptized (7 Dec 1804). The Monells are a family from Wallkill and New Windsor, Orange [or Ulster], NY. There is also a Halsey name which gets passed on down through the generations and I believe it comes from Joseph Conklin's side as there are a couple Conklin-Halsey marriages on the books in this era. I would also like to find the parentage for Sarah Janet Graham. James Monell and his brother Robert fought alongside an Andrew Graham with soldiers of Wallkill's Hanover Precinct during the Revolutionary War. So maybe Sarah is a sister to Andrew and John (and William?), who were sons of Robert and Antie Graham of Shawangunk?? So: James Monell, abt 1743/52, Wallkill, m. Sarah Janet Graham, abt 1751, of New Windsor (James' parents were George Monell and Jeanet Wherry; you'll see the Jennett pattern) Children: Charles Monell, 1775, of New Windsor, m. Mary Bogart Elizabeth Monell, 1777, of New Windsor, m. Robert Morris, 1773 Farmingdale, Monmouth, NJ Jennett Monell, abt 1780, m. Joseph Conklin James Monell, 1786, NYC, m. Charlotte Smith Joseph Conklin, died bef 1820, and Jennett Monell, m. abt 1800 Children: Adeline Conklin, born 29 Apr 1803, chr. 7 Dec 1804, 1st Presbyterian, NYC Joseph Halsey Conklin, b. 25 Nov 1807, chr. 16 June 1813/4 Brick Presbyterian, NYC Eliza Tileman (Talman?) Jack, I do have something more. The Saugerties Evening Post, Mar 1, 1879 Death of G. Frederick Yake, on Feb 28, age about 54, survived by wife, 7 children. I am finding Frederick Yeck listed in the 1870 Federal Census of Saugerties at # /299. Frederick Yeck, 45, b. Wurtenberg Julia 41, b. Baden William, 21 Catharine 16 Godfrey, J., 11 Harmon, 9 Julia 5 Ann, 2 and living next door is Barbet Everly, 5, b. Baden. and in the 1880 Federal Census of Saugerties, District One, page 39 # 339-421 Julia Yake, 52, widow, keep house Wm., 30, son, wks paper mill, single Godfrey, 21, son, segar maker, single Herman, 19, son, segar maker, single Julia, 16, daughter, wks paper mill Annie, 11, daughter Georgie, 9, son and living with them is James Burnett, 28, a boarder, single fisherman. So that is two pieces of info at least, one that Mr. F. Yeck died between 1870 and 1880 and secondly that Julia did outlive him. There might be more, but I have to look. Thank----Just what I was looking for. All I had was : Saile/Abeel Cemetery 1.Mary Hommel, b. October 9, 1836, d. November 3, 1899, w/o Peter Margison . That connects a big chunk of my family. Peter's grandfather was Peter Markison from Kingston. His descendants moved back and forth between Ulster, Greene, and Sullivan Counties, so tracking all the children and cousins has been tough. Now if I can find Peter's grave------- Thanks again ~Ken Margison~ ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

Hello Fred: Would St. Anne's Church be in the Rondout section of Kingston? I am looking for the burial cemetery of my gg grandparents, THOMAS DUNN and MARGARET FINN DUNN. Thomas died August 20, 1881 and Margaret died in Troy, NY on December 12, 1885. Have not found where Thomas died but it could have been Troy also. My g grandmother MARY DUNN CARROLL and two of her children died in Troy in March of 1881 in an epedemic. This may have caused Thomas and Margaret to move to Troy from Hurley, NY as my g grandfather JAMES CARROLL was left with 2 small girls when his wife died. A sister of my g grandmother, KATHERINE DUNN, who died in Troy on March 6, 1934, is buried in St. Mary's Cemetery in Kingston. While the dates of death for both her parents, Thomas and Margaret, are on her stone, St. Mary's tells me that Thomas and Margaret are NOT buried there. When Margaret died in Troy in 1885, her obit in the Troy newspaper indicated that burial would be in Rondout, NY. If you have a book of burials for St. Anne's I would appreciate it if you looked to see if Thomas and Margaret are listed. If not, any suggestons on what other Catholic cemeteries would be in "Rondout".? Thanks very much, Bill McGrath Clifton Park, NY
Hi, Fred, Thanks for the response. I'm trying to locate the grave of my great grandfather, Michael Cassidy, d. August 18, 1898, and according to his death cert., was buried in St. Anne's Sawkill Cemetery in Kingston. Also trying to find the grave of Margaret (Hinds, Hynes, Hines) Cassidy, his wife, my great grandmother, who may also be buried there -- possibly in a family plot. Any other Cassidys listed? Any info you can offer would be gratefully received. Hi Dippy, I was able to find some information on Catryntie Roosa at http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi. The only thing about Peter Markison is that he was her husband. I found 4 baptisms for them in the Old Dutch Church Baptisms. I did not find Martinus Markison, b.4 Mar 1794 and baptized on 19 May 1794. The children I found were: Caty bp. 1 Mar 1786 Benjamin bp. 15 May 1789 Rachel bp. 27 May 1791 Maria bp. 31 May 1797, baptized in Woodstock Try searching all of the names and spellings on the WorldConnect website that I have given you or do a lookup at www.familysearch.org.
