Hi Barbara, I will check that book out and see if it is still available. My DAR patriot ancestor was Joseph Sherwood. He married Sarah Bradley. His son, Joseph married Sophia Terwilliger, daughter of Hugo Terwilliger, Jr. Joseph, Jr's son, John, married into another Terwiiliger family. His wife was Sarah Jane Terwilliger. There are a lot of Terwilliger's in the New Paltz area. I am also researching the Eckert/Decker line that branched off the Terwilligers. Thanks for your help. I appreciate it. The Terwilligers are another collateral line. I have a Hugo in my database, born 1724, son of Evert Terwilliger and Sarah Freer. Is this your Hugo? Hi Richard, I have records from a German or Dutch Bible about Hugo and Brigenen (sp). They say he died in 22 April 1768. She died 24 Nov 1760. It doesn't list a birth date so I am not sure if it is the same Hugo. Are you from the Freer / Terwilliger lineage? Hi Rhoda, This is the book: Heidgerd, Ruth P. Freer Family: Descendants of Hugo Freer, Patentee of New Paltz. New Paltz: Huguenot Historical Society, 1968. It was one of those rare books which I actually do NOT own. I have been using it in the library, as the Freers are only collateral relatives. I originally thought I had some direct ancestors among them, but it was an error with my Van Wagenen line. Still hoping to find a direct Freer ancestor. In the meantime, I am studying all the New Paltz families. With Huguenot ancestors, there is always a good chance that we are related--there were so few original families. In addition to the History of New Paltz, I have gotten information on this family from "The Freer Family: Descendants of Hugo Freer, Patentee of New Paltz." I have no death date for Hugo, Jr. I also have only 10 children, which I think I obtained recently from the Freer book. I have not used any of the internet sources. I am looking for any information about my GG Grandfather, Jacob Brazier PLAIN (or his ancestors) who married Mary Ann DOYLE. I have seen him referred to as "Jacob", "Jacob B.", "Brazier" and "Branch". I know that he was born in Poughkeepsie in 1828, and was living in Esopus in the 1850 census (listed as Urury in the index, but it is Brazier) with his wife Mary, daughter Elizabeth, and son Andrew. I believe that he may have been the son of Jacob PLAIN & Cynthia RELYEA. In that 1850 Census, the next family listed was that of Charles RELYEA...there was also a Henry Plain listed three families before Brazier, on the previous page. By 1853, he is living in Jersey City, NJ. Here is what I have for Brazier's family: Jacob Brazier PLAIN, b. June 1828 in Poughkeepsie, NY; d. Aft. 1900. He m. Mary Ann DOYLE, b. Abt. 1826 in Ireland; d. December 16, 1898 in New York, NY. She was the daughter of Thomas DOYLE. Children of Jacob PLAIN and Mary DOYLE are: i. Elizabeth PLAIN, b. Abt. 1846 in NY. ii. Andrew J. PLAIN, b. Abt. 1848 in Jersey City, NJ; d. May 27, 1897 in New York, NY. iii. Emily PLAIN, b. March 1852 in NJ; m. William KNORR; b. 1852 in PA. iv. George PLAIN, b. Abt. 1854; d. June 09, 1894 in New York, NY; m. Kate BROWN. v. Henrietta PLAIN, b. September 1859 in NJ; m. _____ TORBIT. vi. Fredrick B. PLAIN, b. September 15, 1860 in Jersey City, NJ; d. October 08, 1933 in East Orange, NJ; m. Mary Agnes HERZOG January 01, 1883 in Jersey City, NJ. vii. E. Victoria PLAIN, b. Abt. 1863 in Jersey City, NJ; d. August 30, 1878 in Jersey City, NJ. Any help would be appreciated. I have run into a brick wall with Brazier, and am trying to confirm whether he is the son of Jacob PLAIN & Cynthia RELYEA. Thanks, Tom Smith

Hi Rhoda, The birthdate I have for Hugo Freer is 14 Oct 1691. He and Brechje Terpening had 11 children. I would also like to know his date of death. Richard
I would greatly appreciate a lookup for the surname BAHR. This name was also spelled BAAR in one census. George Bahr disappears after the 1855 NYS Census but the family is in Ellenville in 1860. Thank you in advance. Vince
Are there any DICKINSON, DICKENSON or DICKERSONs listed in this book? Thanks, Carol L. Heap
