If you had ancestors that settled early in central, or one of the western counties of New York, then you might find some information on them in a collection of manuscript church record books at Cornell University. To read about them go to our website at www.unyg.com and click on the UNYG Blog tab. -- Dick Hillenbrand Upstate New York Genealogy website and blog: www.unyg.com member: Association of Professional Genealogists (APG)

They just seem to have disappeared. I'll keep looking though. Thanks again. Barbara Smith Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The Scism family has Ulster County roots back into the 1600s. I am still trying to organize a family wide genealogy of this line. My direct line is through my father, whose DNA proves out to be from the McCann family of North Adams Massachusetts. Previously in Troy NY. Looking for the lines that come through Orville Franklin Scism of Shandaken. Looking especially for Scism family to compare DNA with. -- Jeffery G.
