    3. Hi Bill, Deer Park is in the area of Rt. 209 North of Port Jervis NY,if my memory is correct. I didn't see it on my NY map but it exists. Mamakating is the correct spelling of the other town. It's the Town of Mamakating which isn't on my map (don't know if it's on any). If you find the town of Wurtsboro I believe you've found Mamakating. The Town Hall there has records and Jean Dougherty the Registrar of Vital Statistics is very helpful. My husbands family is from that area so we've been going up that way for many years. But everything gets so familiar that we don't pay attention to where places are because we're so used to them. Hope this info helps you! -----Original Message----- From: BILL ROSE <dharmapoet@home.com> To: NYULSTER-L@rootsweb.com <NYULSTER-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Tuesday, March 02, 1999 10:26 PM Subject: Unknown communities >Hello all! > In my research of Ulster County I have come across the communities of >"Deer Park" and "Mamacotting" or "Memacating". >Is anyone familiar with the location of these communities? I have the following information for this couple: Attleboro, MA Vital Records to the End of the Year 1849, p. 218: Seth Richardson b. 3 Sep 1716; mar. 25 Oct 1739 Attleboro, Bristol, MA Abigail Skinner, b. 26 Aug 1713 Norton, Bristol, MA (Norton Vital Records to 1850). I would like to find the parents of both Abigail SKINNER and Seth RICHARDSON. Their daughter, Anna RICHARDSON, married Henry PECK in 1781. I have considerable information on the PECK line, and am now trying to find out more about the RICHARDSON and SKINNER lines. It is especially interesting because Henry PECK's mother was Ann SKINNER (1733-1822), daughter of Thomas SKINNER and Abigail DAY. I'd like to know how Abigail SKINNER and Ann SKINNER were related. If anyone has any clues, please share! Jean jcoyne@northnet.org ----------------------------------------------- Lost your welcome message? 1. Death of George McHATTIE in Orange County NY 1920s?
    2. Ian Clark
    3. According to my mother, my great uncle George McHattie died in "a place called Orange" and "it must have been in New York because he sent his parents (who were living and working in South Africa at the time) many postcards from there". My limited internet researches have directed me to Orange County, NY. Mum's memory says he died some time in the 1920's, maybe of Spanish flu. Is there any way I can confirm this death and possibly find out more? Are there local registers of deaths or other records available somehow on-line or does the information have to be researched locally? I'd be grateful for any help. Thanks, Ian Clark Researching CLARK in London, Cheshire and Staffordshire, McHATTIE in Aberdeenshire and anywhere Scots emigrated to the New World, OAKFORD in London, HENDERSON in Aberdeenshire, THORNETT in Derbyshire, MAXFIELD in Staffordshire and so on.

    2. PHILIP D DELAMARTER
    3. 1. I'm trying to find the names of the parents of Edward Jackson Delamarter, born November 26, 1828 in Ulster County. He had a sister Eliza and his mother's name was Sarah/Sally who was born about 1796 and died September 15, 1864 in Ulster Couty, perhaps in the Drybrook area. 2. I am trying to find information about a Peter Delamarter/Delamarter who lived in Ulster County in the early 1800's. I know of a Peter L., and have his ancestoral line, but can not find anything about Peter. 3. Looking also for information about a Mary Delamater who married David D. Dumond (1769). They were the first permanent white settlers in Middletown. 3. Hi, Last week I found (I think) my mggf on the 1850 Census. He was listed in Demming township. This week I went and looked on the 1860 census and couldn't even find the family. Does anyone know if the township of Demming was split? If so what new township was formed? I am looking for William Dennis b. 184?. The William Dennis I found was listed as Wm. Curtis, age 11; son of George and Phoebe Dennis. I think this is the William Dennis who married my mggm Sarah Sheeley (Sheley). I would also like to know if anyone knows if the Sheeley Cemetary still exists. Sarah was to have been buried there but I am not sure where it is (was). Any help greatly appreciated. TIA, Sharon Zamansky Kushner Colorado Springs CO

    3. Hello Jackie and list members, Ulster County Genealogical Soc. has material on cemeteries. Ulster County Genealogical Society P.O. Box 536 Hurley, New York 12443 Old Gravestones of Ulster County, by Poucher & Terwilliger, 1931 (Their newsletter states Postage Included in Price) $41.00 Surname Index: $10.00 Then there is Ulster Co. Cemeteries by UCGS, I believe by F. Prehn & A. Klinkenburg for $41.00. "This supplements Old Gravestones UC above" They also have: Blue Mt. Cemetery, Katsbaan Cem. (both by A. Klinkenburg) $15.00 ea. Montrepose Cemetery, $14.00 Wiltwyck Cemetery, $25.00 They have several other genealogical publications as well. I have been told, and please don't quote me as I seem to have this uncanny ability to mess things up with this written word lacking the human element, (the old sender/receiver communication issue) .... that cemetery information in Greene County, is located at the Vedders Library and that they choose not to publish them. Hope this helps.. 2. I Tombstone inscriptions are public domain IF you go the the cemetery and view the tombstone. A book compiled by someone who read the tombstones is not. It actually does take a little time and effort to walk through the cemetery and sometimes cost I for one am grateful for some ot these people who compiled cemetery records and baptismal records etc., regardless whether they did it for profit. Also, everything "free" that we find on the internet to help us with our genealogy cost someone time and/or money. This is something we all need to remember. Debbie
