    3. I'm new at this so here goes. I'm looking for the parents of Samuel P. Foster who was born abt. 1812 in Orange Co, NY. He married Mary E. Crist in 1837 in Goshen, Orange Co. He was still there in 1838 when his first son was born, William C. Foster. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Gayle Foster

    1. Phinius Dun will, Goshen, 1788
    2. I just found the deed abstract, published by the Orange. Co. Gen. Soc. PHINIUS DUN of Goshen - Liber A - pg 57 Will made Dec. 26, 1788 Probated Jan 9, 1789 Wife ; Anna Dun Daughters - Zeruiah Dun, Elizabeth Dun Executors - Anna Dun and Moses Carpenter Witnesses - Calvil Shepard and Ezra Doty. Does this shed any light on which Phineas Dun??? I believe I have an old (probably prior to photography) picture of Anne Dun. We couldn't read the writing on the back until I discovered this will with the name Dun spelled with one "n." One photographer said that it was a charcoal enhanced picture and probably a wedding picture. Does anyone know who the witnesses Calvil (?Colvil) Shepard and Ezra Doty were ;and if they were in anyway connected with the Dun or Carpenter families? Phoebe

    1. BUSSELL, CARLOW, PURDY
    2. Larry Lachance
    3. Greetings to the list members. I have been searching for the past year in NYC and Dutchess County for the subject surnames. I am now beginning to believe I am not searching far enough. Everything I have found leads me to believe (not proven yet) that the lines I am seeking have roots in either Westchester and/or Ulster counties as well. Is there anyone else here searching for: BUSSELL, CARLOW, or PURDY?? I have only one PURDY so far...Cornelia PURDY, married to Peter A. CARLOW (unknown where) 1850 Dutchess County Census shows them with 5 children, all CARLOW Surnames of course, Amy H. abt 1837, John M. abt 1841, Isaac P. abt 1842, George P. abt 1845 and William L. abt 1848. Isaac went on to the Civil War, serving in the 150th NYSV as a "musician/bugler"...died on Jan 24th, 1915 in the New York State Hospital...He married Mary Rebecca (maiden name Unknown)...they had at least one child, Antoinette Louise CARLOW born abt 1864. Cornelia PURDY died Jan 21, 1853 in Poughkeepsie and based up certificate information she was born about 1813. Anyone recognize this PURDY, OR any of the CARLOW's??? Also have a number of BUSSELL's but only a single proven link...to Richard Harson BUSSELL. The BUSSELL family had a lumber/mahagony business in New York and I've found several in the Bronx and Manhattan that I believe are related..but no roots for them yet.... Does anyone recognize any of these names?? Thanks to anyone who responds... Larry Lachance Jacksonville, FL Larry01@mediaone.net LLachance@lachances.net LJLachance@aol.com http://www.lachances.net

    1. Railroad records
    2. Having just gone through two rolls of Orange County census, it has become very obvious that the railroad played a large roll in the lives of Deerpark residents. Edward Quick (born about 1840) was a carpenter employed by the Erie and was working in a gang on the Honesdale Branch when he was killed in an accident in 1878. Can anyone tell me if the railroad records of that area are in a depository somewhere?

    2. Phyllis Kinzie
    3. I have been told that a Teunis Bressie/Brussie/Brizzee d 1805 is buried in the Zena Cemetery, and that only about 12 feet away is a grave for Andrew Riseley. The Teunis Bressie that I am looking for supposedly had a son named Andrew Riseley Bressie. I'd like to know if both Riseley and Bressie were buried there, and if so if it was in the same family lot. Also, if someone is familiar with the cemetery now, I'd like to know if these stones are still standing. Thank you. Phyllis

She always reading history or jotting down some date. She's tracking back the family, we'll all have pedigrees. Oh, Grandma's got a hobby - she's climbing the FAMILY TREE. Poor Grandpa does the cooking, and now, or so he states, That worst of all, he has to wash the cups and dinner plates. Grandma can't be bothered, she busy as a bee, Compiling genealogy for the FAMILY TREE. She has no time to babysit, the curtains are a fright, No buttons left on Grandpa's shirt, the flower bed's a sight. She's given up her club work and the soaps on TV, the only thing she does nowadays is climb the FAMILY TREE. She goes down to the courthouse and studies ancient lore, We know more about our forebears than we ever knew before. The books are old and dusty, they make poor Grandma sneeze, A minor irritation when you're climbing the FAMILY TREE. The mail is all for Grandma, it comes from near and far, Last week she got the proof she needs to join the D.A.R. A monumental project all do agree, All from climbing up the FAMILY TREE. Now some folks came from Scotland, some from Galway Bay, Some were French as pastry, some German all the way. Some went West to stake there claims, some stayed there by the sea. Grandma hopes to find them all, as she climbs the FAMILY TREE. She wanders through the graveyard in search of date and name, The rich, the poor, the in-between, all sleeping there the same. She pauses now and then to rest, fanned by a gentle breeze, That blows above the Fathers of all our FAMILY TREES. There are pioneers and patriots, mixed in our kith and kin, Who blazed the paths of wilderness and fought through thick and thin. But none more staunch than Grandma, who eyes light up with glee, Each time she finds a missing branch for the FAMILY TREE. Their skills were wide and varied, from carpenter to cook, And one, alas, the records show, was hopelessly a crook. Blacksmith, weaver, farmer, judge - some tutored for a fee. Once lost in time, now all recorded on the FAMILIY TREE. To some it's just a hobby, to Grandma it's much more, She learns the joys and heartaches of those that went before. They loved, they lost, they laughed, they wept - and now, for you and me, They live again in spirit, around the FAMILY TREE. At last she's nearly finished and we are each exposed, Life will be the same again, this we all supposed. Grandma will cook and sew, serve cookies with our tea. We'll all be fat, just as before the wretched FAMILY TREE. Sad to relate, the preacher called and visited for a spell. We talked about the Gospel, and other things as well. The heathen folk, the poor and then - twas fate, it had to be, Somehow the conversation turned to Grandma and the FAMILY TREE. He never knew his Grandpa, his mother's name was..... Clark? He and Grandma talked and talked, outside it grew dark. We'd hoped our fears were groundless, but just like some disease, Grandma's become an addict - she's hooked on FAMILY TREES. Our souls are filled with sorrow, our hearts sad with dismay. Our ears could scarce believe the words we heard our Grandma say, "It sure is a lucky thing that you have come to me, I know exactly how it's done, I'll climb your FAMILY TREE. --part1_921958580_boundary-- --part0_921958580_boundary--

The URL for our website is; http://www.linkline.com/personal/xymox/ On the first page of the site look for the link FRAUDULENT LINEAGES. 3. Greetings. I am seeking information about Sussannah (Susannah?) and Phebe CAVANAUGH, who were listed in the will of Moses OVERTON of Orange Co. NY, as being his granddaughters. It is implied in the will that their mother was Moses' daughter and was deceased at the time of the writing of the will (1821). A grandson Jeremiah is also mentioned, but without his surname listed. I haven't found any Cavanaughs yet in Orange Co. Anyone know of a link? Will exchange info. Thanks for the help. Beth

    3. Greetings, List. I have come across several occasions where people who left Long Island during the Rev. Does anyone have any information on why this was such a popular destination for these refugees from Long Island? Thanks in advance for your replies. Beth
