    1. Sherman Lockwood 1909-1992
    2. Okay, here's my final mystery Lockwood. Sherman born Oct 1909 in Mt tremper to Sherman Lockwood and Carrie Best. He died in Chenango county. Now I believe his fatehr may have been born in 1851 (putting him at almost 60 when he had his son) I believe it may have been a second marriage to Carrie Best. Teh first was to Addie Bevier. Its a bit of a mystery. Not sure if Sherman and Addie had a son named Sherman and he married Carrie Best and they had a Sherman too. pretty confusing! Thanks all!Have a great weekend!! Michele

    3. Fran, My gr-gr-grandfather (on my mother's side), John Barnet Hoyt, married Irene F. Bishop 25 Oct 1868. Irene was born 1851 in Woodstock and died 16 Apr 1896 ae 43 of pneumonia, buried Wesleyan Methodist Church cemetery, Willow, Ulster Co., NY. John & Irene had seven children, four of whom died very young. I don't know who Irene's parents were, but if there's a link to your Bishops, I'd be glad to exchange info. 1. More Lockwood names...(Smith, Bevier, Bennett, Van Kuren)
    2. Hi..hope ya'll don't mind if I post a few mor eLockwood names. I was going through family group sheets to put data in some kind of readable and understadable form and thought I would try to fix up some loose ends. Here they are: Jane Lockwood born circa 1845 in Ulster county married Fnu Smith. She died in 1921 in Shandaken. Sherman Lockwood was born in 1851 in Ulster county and died 1926 in Ulster. Married Addie Bevier (156-1898) Both are bureid in Hudler Cemetery, Mt. tremper, NY. They ahd at least one daughter, Tracy who was born in 1894 and died in 1895. She too is buried in Hudler Cemetery. Walter Scott Lockwood born 1863 in Ulster County. He married Mary Bennett. They had at least one child Byron Walter Lockwood born in West Park, NY Oct 25, 1896. He died Dec. 1984 Jane, Sherman, and Walters parents: Abraham (Abram) Lockwood and Sarah Randall. Martha Lockwood born circa 1867 to Wilbur Lockwood and Elizabeth Rules in Ulster County (Shandaken most likely) believe she married Walter Van Kuren after Oct 1888..may have lived in Delaware County. Hoping to tie up some loose ends..if any of these other names sound familiar please let me know..am always willing to share what I have.. Michele R. L.o.c.k.w.o.o.d

    3. Don, When you access the Town of Olive website, you'll get a brief, timed message telling you to click on the square labeled "Town Bulletin Board" for information regarding the CD. Your mother was co-founder of the Ulster County Genealogical Society in 1972. Her contributions to the society are legendary. It's a pleasure to meet you and please accept my condolences on the passing of a most wonderful person. 1. Francis Pidgeon in Saugerties; Wolven Tract
    2. Carl O. Smarling
    3. We have come across the following in Brink's "The Early History of Saugerties 1660-1825", "...the south end of the Wolven tract....from whose heirs it will pass in December 1860 through Russell Isaacs to Francis Pidgeon and from him to John Meyers." Could anyone tell me what the Wolven tract is or was? Could anyone tell me more about Francis Pidgeon? We have a great grandfather named Francis Pidgeon Van Keuren, born in Kingston, and wonder as to the connection of names. Thanks, Carl Smarling

    3. Gary, Today I went to the Town Clerks's office for you only to find that you had been in contact with her last week and that she had spent a great deal of time searching for your ancestors who were probably part of the resevoir workforce and the child's birth was not registered. I understand that she searched through all the L's and the entire year of 1911 with no success. She explained to you that unregistered births and late registrations were common in that era, especially with migrant workers. You were fortunate indeed to find a town clerk so willing to help you out but your duplicate request to the two of us has left us both feeling rather used. If you had told me up front that the town clerk had no registration of this birth, I could have checked other available resources. You may want to have the NYS Dept of Health do a general search, and if the parents were from NYC, have a search done there. Sincerely, Ginny Byron ----- Original Message ----- From: GARY L. 1. Ulster county genealogical society (formats)
    2. Hello all! A few months ago I wrote to the Ulster County Genealogical Society and they have nothing on my family line. I have some information that I have gathered through civil war records (military and pension), certificates, census, etc. I would like to put this all in some type of correct form and give it to the Ulster County Genealogical Society. I though tit migh tbe helpful for other researchers some day. What is the correct way to do this? I have never given a professional our history..just other family members and they don't care what the format is. Should I send in photocopies of the civil war pension and military papers? The military paper gives a physical description. Do I need to hav eit bound once I get it all correctly together? Thank you. I was planning on trying to start in a couple of weeks..so thank you in advance for any tips, help. ideas, etc. Michele R. L.o.c.k.w.o.o.d

    3. Gary, There was and still is an area in the Town of Olive in Ulster County, called Browns Station. The entire area by this name was purchased by New York City to build the Ashokan Resevoir. Part of the area is now under water and part of the area is occupied by NYC headworks buildings. I have a list of the property owners....if you give me your uncle's parent's names I'd be glad to look them up. The Town Clerk's office is about five miles from my home. I could check their vital records index for you. Regards, Ginny Byron vbyron@ulster.net ----- Original Message ----- From: GARY L. 1. re: TERWILLIGER
    2. Hi Vickie, Which TERWILLIGERs are you researching? By the way I subscribed to the TERWILLIGER mailing list. It must be new since I looked for one not long ago and couldn't find one. I have 2 lines of TERWILLIGERs: one I have back to Elihue Sheldon TERWILLIGER b:Mar 2, 1824 in Ellenville, Ulster, NY and the other that I have back to the first TERWILLIGERs in the US. Elihue married Hephzibah Sherwood. Hephzibah's mother was Sophia Terwilliger (that is my second line of TERWILLIGERs). Sharlene
