I just posted this to the Orange County List and thought there might be someone on the Ulster County List that might be interested. I have an old German Bible from the German Church that was on Johnson Street, Newburgh. It belonged to my grandparents. In it are some newspaper clippings. I'll list the name and year for the postings. If you are interested in scanned copies of these clippings for your genealogy records please email me mclark@eticom.net If you think they might connect for your genealogy research, please feel free to email me. ALLISON / ELLISON in Goshen, Chester and Warwick in Orange Co. -- 1725 - 1840 DAVIS in Warwick in Orange Co. ca. 1750 - 1840 Isaac ALLISON, Jr. (b.1762; d. Mar. 15, 1825 in Orange Co., NY) married Mary DAVIS on June 28, 1785 at the Baptist Church in Warwick, Orange Co., NY. Isaac fought in the Revolutionary War. In his book, THE HISTORY OF THE ALISON OR ALLISON FAMILY IN EUROPE AND AMERICA A. D. 1135 TO 1893, Leonard Allison Morrison listed eight children of Isaac, Jr. and Mary (Davis) Allison. They are: Isaac III, Sallie, Nathaniel, Samuel, Mary, Annie (my G2 grandmother), Richard and Elizabeth. Mary (Davis) Allison moved with Annie and Elizabeth's families and other Allison relatives from Orange Co., NY to near Newark in Licking, OH about 1841. Mary died in Licking County on April 19, 1843. I have been to Licking Co., OH to do research and have a picture of Mary's gravestone which states that she died in her 79th year. That would make her birth year 1764. I do not have much information about Mary DAVIS' family. In his book, Morrison said that Mary's brother was Benjamin DAVIS. I have read that Mary's father may have been Gilliam DAVIS. If anyone else is researching these families, I will be happy to share information. Mary Allison Yonan
