New to list and wish to post the names of the family I am researching. Van Den Bosch [ Bosch - Bos - BUSH ] Jan Woutersen Van Den Bosch -- entered USA in 1659 on " The Faith". He and Annetje Arents raised their family on Long Island and attended FlatBush RDC. Some of his family adopted the name Johnson, and moved west. Son Hendrick Jansen Van Den Bosch was the only one to move to Kingston / Marbletown NY, where he raised a large family. Henderick Jansen's third G.Grandson Hendricus Bush / Neeltjen Middag, was a UEL who fled to Canada in 1779. If you are researching this family, please contact me, -- Libby.
I am searching for any of the Pusey family living in NY. Robert Pusey married (circa 1740) Magdelina VanMeter who was a grandaughter of the Dubois family. Could someone look up the PUSEY surname in NY in the Revoultion. It is an unusual name for that area, so there may not be any. Thanks, Carol
Hi Ulster List, Okay, I confess I have a copy of the Roberts and Mather "New York in the Revolution as Colony and State". I could do limited look-ups for you (please give first name and last name of soldier) as you try to find out where your Ulster Co. ancestor fit into the scheme of things in those days. However, I know this book is in print so I sure don't want to infringe on any copyright stuff! Regards to you from a warm Austin, TX night, Marilyn Hough Stern (formerly of Kripplebush, NY)
Audrey - do you have any Kyzer/Keyser/etc or Parslow listings in your book? Thank you! Lynn, wlj1@compuserve.com
I have a copy of the book Ulster County in the Revolution and will do specific look ups. There are a lot of abbreviations within the text, which need explaination. Audrey Klinkenberg
Don't know about on-line - There is a book "Ulster County in the Revolution" by Ruth Heidgerd published in 1977. The copy I saw was in the Pine Bush NY public Library. It is probably in other libes. Frank Sloat
I'm interested in tis list also. Looking for Ephraim Kyzer/Keyser or any Kyzers. Thank you - Lynn
Does anyone have a list of the people who participated in the Ulster Co. militia during the Revolutionary War? Or does anyone know where I can find one online? Thanks, Sue Dewey suebee@flash.net
Here is some information I would like to share with the Jenkins out there: I found out some interesting information awhile ago. There were two different groups of Jenkins that came into the Ulster County, New York area about the same time and they are not related, so they say. One group came from New England and they were Quakers. The other came from New Jersey and they were Dutch Reformed (my Jenkins line I have been told). William Jenkins (my line) brother, James founder of Jenkinstown (now New Platz), Ulster County, New York owned and operated a sawmill there. He married Rachel LeFevre there in 1818. I thought that was some interesting news. Another bit of information. The Ulster County, New York Jenkins began a mass migration from there to Michigan in the early 1800's. Several families, as they passed through Ohio, decided to settle in Erie County, Ohio. That is where my Ohio Jenkins line begins. Tom Jenkins from Texas tjenkins@ghg.net
I have ties with many Dutch families in New York. I would like to know if Dutch Cultural Festival Day takes place in NY every year? If it does, where might I get more information? I also received at least 4 copies of this virus in the past few months, and it can hurt your computer if opened up. It is good to run an anti-virus program on your computer and see if it comes up. I did a search on my computer ( before I had an anti-virus program), and was able to find it in my attachments. I carefully removed it from my computer and its nowhere to be found on it. It can be passed through e-mail, but will not actually do the damage until it is opened up. I also had another virus that did seem mostly unharmful, called something like "class.sys" or "class.poppy". A screen would pop up out of nowhere telling us that it thinks the owner of our computer was a jerk. I found it and thought it was deleted until I used an anti-virus program and it found the rest of them. It seems it came in a document from somewhere and would pop up when we would use microsoft word. Anyway, to stay on topic a little, I am still looking for Joshua MARTIN, Jeremiah BUNDY, Deyo DAVIS, Timothy TILSON, Sarah DUDLEY and a few others. Happy99.exe has been around for a while. I haven't heard of any reoccurances since last spring. (A friend had to have her computer de-wormed. It was a mess.) This time, I don't know if this is just a scare or if it is making another rounds? It's definitely one to keep an eye on. -----Original Message----- From: Thomas Cornell <tvcornel@netusa1.net> To: NYULSTER-L@rootsweb.com <NYULSTER-L@rootsweb.com> Date: 29. záøí 1999 5:26 Subject: Viruses >There is one more virus making the rounds. There is one more virus making the rounds. I received six copies of <happy99.exe> this evening from a man in Canada. It's my understanding that this looks up your e-mail addresses, generates a letter to all of them, attaches itself to each and sends them when you log on to your e-mail server the next time. I believe that's the only harm it causes. I doesn't damage your hard drive or files; it just clogs up the Internet with useless traffic. None of these, however, bother Macs. Tom Cornell
Haven't found her... yet. We're still sifting through records and will let you know! Lynn
