Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/5RB.2ACE/1142.5.1.1.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: I have the closest thing to a verification which is the three Dunn's that signed the petition against King George III. Thomas Dunn jr's. widow, Amy Lockwood Dunn lived right next to James in the 1790 census of New Paltz. Thomas was dead in 1790 and I believe he was killed in a battle with Gen. Clinton on the Hudson during the revolution. Since you had an older Thomas Dunn it would make him the prime candidate for their father. This information is in " A history of Ulster County" by Sylvester. In the second book of that work, and the way I got it, Thomas Dunn was resident in marborough in 1760. Robert and Joseph who lived in New Hurley (very close to Marlborough) had statistics in that town as well.James and John were about 8 and 6 yrs old at that time. Joseph would have been older since he married Mary Wikham in 1766. Others believe it was a Robert Dunn since admittedly the name Robert was used incessantly. The above info is the closest I have encountered to proof. My Unc! le Marquis said we are descendent from one of five Irish Immigrant brothers whose descendants are spread out all over the country. Hugh Dunn in New Jersey was one of five brothers but never been able to relate our family to him. These Dunn brothers were escaping religious persecution. James Dunn was known as the "Duelist" as you point out. That designation comes from an article called " A History of the Town of Lloyd". I don't know why he was called the Duelist, but then again, it is rather obvious. James married Ann Lane around the start of the revolution. The Lanes were in the New Paltz area. The most likely parent would be Alexander Lane since he was in the area and earlier in Marlborough. Other Lanes were their as well who may have been the parent. Any info you can provide on Solomon would be appreciated. I have his children (think I have his children) in the census records. Solomon married Maria Terwilliger and I am blessed with a great deal of Terwilliger and Freer blood. I am also interested in Uriah Dunn son of Sarah Drake and Robert Dunn of New Hurley. Uriah is probably a cousin and he married Leah Terwilliger. Feel free to e-mail me since transfer of the records will be simpler.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/5RB.2ACE/1142.5.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Sandy, I am looking into Solomon Dunn who was the younger brother of my Ancestor Robert Dunn who married Lucy Freer. What do I know of Solomon? According to the New Hurlely RDC, Solomon was born Jan. 26, 1782 and perished May 10, 1852 in New Paltz. Solomon married Maria Terwilliger and I know of two children Robert Dunn born Sept. 18, 1804 and David Dunn born about 1819. I suspect more children and have sources that may tell me more in the near future. Solomon is buried in the Old Lloyd Cemetery very close to his brother (my grandfather) Rober Dunn born either 1777 (on his grave) or 1779 which is what is in the New Hurley RDC. Robert and Solomon had Uncles John and Thomas. Two other Uncles probably are Robert Dunn and Joseph Dunn that lived in New Hurley. A document against King George III in 1775 was signed by Thomas Dunn, Thomas Dunn jr. and James Dunn. A Thomas Dunn, if I am reading it right, was resident in Marlborough (south of New Paltz) in 1760. Evidence states that the! family migrated from Pennsylvania just after, or during the French and Indian War. The cause was likely the constant terror posed by the Delaware Indians. If you wish to read about it, put the name "Tom Quick" in your search engine. You will come up with references to Tom Quick (family from Rochester Township, Ulster County) and his relationship to Milford, Pa. The Delaware are still as dumb as they always were and have re-instituted the conflict that subsided about 1800.

She had seven siblings who lived to be adults: Wilbur, James, Albert, Charles, Grant, Minnie and Jessie. Albert Augustus BARBER migrated to Missouri, Jackson County, Kansas City. Her father was Francis "Frank" Augustus BARBER (1839-1921). Her mother was Emeline HARRINGTON (1837-1881). It is reputed that Emma married a YEAGER, maybe a Charles YEAGER. Who this YEAGER was is unknown. This YEAGER man's birth year most likely would have been sometime between 1865 and 1870. According to Emma's father Frank's Civil War pension papers, Emma was still alive in 1915, but I have no idea where she was located. Emma and this YEAGER man probably married in the late 1880s. I have a feeling they moved to another county in New York State or to the midwest or out west around 1890, but I haven't the foggiest idea where. I cannot trace her, nor can I find anything regarding this YEAGER she supposedly married. If you know anything of this Emma, let me know. L. J. Shulman Gilroy, California, USA

Clearwater. If anyone has access to either book which I cannot find on line, could you please do a look up and tell me what it says? This surname has just come our way and could be the clue that finally helps us solve this mystery / family line of Moor[e]/Mack/Bradsreet/Broadstreet. Supposedly a Martha Moore Bradstreet Eighmey died in New Paltz, 1847... I have seen her listed as Martha Jannet - from my previous research on these ancestral families, I have her as [only] Jannet md. to a Daniel Bradstreet/Broadstreet --- but lost her..

    1. Davis, Dewitt in Wawarsing Road Districts of 1807

Surnames: Davis, Dewitt Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5RB.2ACE/1398 Message Board Post: Does anyone know if it is possible The "History of Ulster County, New York" has descriptions of the eleven Road Districts of Wawarsing, written just after Wawarsing was formed from Rochester in 1807. The descriptions are fairly cryptic, the 8th district is described as, "Beginning on the second district, near the house of Jacob Heermance, and extending till just across Mr. Douglass' bridge". Does anyone know if there is a map of these districts, or how to figure out where the boundaries are? I have a Beers map of Wawarsing of 1875, but it shows over 30 Districts, and I believe these are school districts. My reason for asking is that I'm trying to figure out where James Clinton Dewitt lived in the early 1800's, he and his brother were listed in Road District 2; as well as the Davises, all of whom are listed in district #8. Thanks for any help.
