I've "rescued" an old photograph of Bridget MCSPIRIT which was taken at the Schultz Bros. Studio in Kingston, New York. I would guess that the photograph was probably taken in the 1880's or 1890's and that Bridget was in her 20's or 30's at the time it was taken. Based on limited research I believe that this is a photograph of Bridget MCSPIRIT the daughter of Patrick & Catharine MCSPIRIT who were included in the 1880 census when living in Hurley, New York along with Bridget and 6 other children. Bridget is listed as 17 years old born in NY, with Patrick age 55 a Farmer and Catharine age 54, both born in Ireland. The six other children were all boys including, James age 24, John age 22, Patrick age 19, Joseph age 16, Edward age 14, and Thomas age 10. I'm hoping to locate someone from this family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

Dear Listers, We have two pictures of workers at "Peckams" in Kingston, NY. We do not know what Peckams was or did. Can anyone help us? My wife's grandfather is in the picture and worked there between 1900 - 1907. There are many others in the pictures as well, so if anyone had a relative who worked there and would like a copy of the picture to see if their relative can be identified, we'd be glad to email them a copy of the picture. (I do not have access to a library for film, inter library loans, etc.) Just wondering if the history behind this farm would fit the bits of info I have on two brothers , a William and a Daniel Broadstreet.. The brothers connect three of my ancestral families that I worked on years ago: Bradstreet; Mack, Moor(e).

I've "rescued" an old photograph of Lena MELLERT which was taken at the F.D. Lewis Studio in Kingston, New York. I'm hoping to locate someone from Lena's family so that this wonderful old photograph could be returned to family. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me. My group is headed up by John Martino and we have completed and are working on several major databases for the NYC Metro area. Below are some of the projects we have finished and/or are nearing completion. 1-The Southern District Naturalizations for NARA covering Manhattan and the Bronx and recorded in Federal Courts. (completed) 2-The Bronx Naturalizations (completed) 3-NYC Manhattan Death index 1891-1900 (completed) 4-NYC All-Boros death index 1900-1911 (completed) 5-NYC All-Boro death index 1912-1919 (completed but still to be posted) 6-Brooklyn & Manhattan Grooms index 1895-1897 (completed but still has to be posted) 7-All Boro grooms index 1908-1936 (completed but still has to be posted), 1897-1907 in progress. 8-Nassau & Suffolk counties naturalization indices (completed) 9-Brooklyn Brides index up to 1937 (nearing completion) 10- All Boro death index 1920-1929 (coming soon) 11-Eastern District naturalizations for NARA covering Brooklyn, Queens, Richmond up to 1926 (nearing completion) 12-Eastern District Naturalizations from 1927 on up (still to be started) All of these indices are or will be available at the Italian Genealogy Groups website at www.italiangen.org and the best part, we insist on these things be free to all genealogists. Now for my plea. We need numerous volunteers to help with these projects. All of it can be done at your home in the comfort of your computer chair. All you need to have is some reasonable typing skills and a spreadsheet program on your computer (Excel or Works do great), a passion for genealogy and a desire to "give a little back" to this passion. I won't lie to you, the work is easy but tedious so we need dedicated volunteers. If you think you would like to help, you can contact John Martino directly at [email protected] and let him know. We can have some of those Eastern District Index pages in your hands in a matter of days. John will be able to answer any questions you may have. Thank you for listening. Tony

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/5RB.2ACE/1422 Message Board Post: I am looking for any information on the following surnames: Romer (or possibly changed to Rome), Terwilliger especially John Wesley Terwilliger, wife Mary Elizabeth Romer), Kniffen/Kniffin (especially John K. Kniffen, wife Mary Romer and descendants). (The two Mary's were cousins.) I've been concentrating on Sullivan County, but have realized that where they lived was very close to Ulster County. I recently found Terwilliger family in Sullivan County 1880 census, but listed as Homowack (Ulster County) address. I welcome the tiniest bit of info.
Hello Ulster County, The family of Abraham David Delamater/Dellamater and Enjeltje Elmendorf who started out in Hurley, Ulster County (1820), later to Harpersfield (1830) Delaware County, and then to Shandaken (1840), Ulster County had four sons. David Abraham Delameter of Ulster County, a Cornelius Delamater/Delameter (for whom I am looking), John Schoonmaker Delamarter of Drybrook, and Peter P. Rosa Dellamater who moved his family to Michigan. Notice that no middle initial or name is given for Cornelius. I am looking for information about a Cornelius A. Delameter who lived in Andes Twp., Delaware County, in the 1840 NY census. His wife's name may have been Elizabeth. He is listed as having one male age 5-10, one male age 10-15, 2 males age 15-20 and he was age 40-50. There was one female age 5-10, one female age 10-15, and his wife was age 50-60. Note the age difference in his age and his wife's age. In the 1856 Lee County, IA census there is a Cornelius listed as age 58 and Elizabeth is listed as age 68, both living in Iowa for 3 years, at the home of their son, Abraham Delameter who married Irene Bland. Abraham may have had a brother named Albridge Dellameter who married Louvina. Cemetery inscription for Blacksmith Cemetery, Franklin Twp. Section 11, Lee County, IA says he died June 21, 1862, age 55 years 6 months. Perhaps whoever read this old tombstone, which no longer exists, mistook 55 for 65 years, which would agree with the 1840 NY census and the 1856 Lee County, IA census. The name Albridge comes up in his descendants quite frequently. Were there any Albridges in Ulster County? I'm searching for any information on a Margaret? Terwilliger who married William Cooley around 1867 probably in Newburgh. Wow! I sure sound confident, LOL. This is my Mother's maternal side of her family and she did help me some back when she was 87 years old but now at age 93 things are getting real fuzzy for her. What I do know for sure is that Sarah Cooley married Charles T. Montfort in 1867 in Newburgh, NY. Their oldest daughter, Frances, was my Mother's Mother. My Mother said that the name trilliger or something like that was familiar to her but she couldn't remember why. In the 1860 census I found a Susan Terwilliger, single, 40, and a child Susan A. Cooley, age 7 living together and two dwellings later William Cooley and his wife Margaret about 42, with two daughters age 8 and 3 together. Sooooo, putting 2 and 2 together in my illogical mind I'm guessing Susan and Margaret were sisters. What is even more of a frog strangler is that in the 1850 census for Ulster county there is a Catherine Terwilliger 62, listed as head of a household of two children, Margaret 22and Hannah 24, then there is a Jesse Terwilliger listed below them, farmer. Jesse is 4 years younger than Catherine. Of course there are Terwilligers scattered throughout the census pages for Ulster County, and for that fact Orange County. Does anybody have any idea what was going on with that family and is anybody related? Bob Sanders
